Thunderbird Club

It's a fantastic museum, very nicely done, world class.

Mostly an iPad Air (gen4). Tried AdBlocker and it didn’t work, then tried 1Blocker and so far working like a champ. No mo ads! Time will tell if it causes problems with other apps, but so far just fine on TB. Thx for the suggestion.
Using Adblock Plus (free) on several browsers and see no ads. Here or Youtube (which is a Godsend).

...if you have a spare $13,989 + $199 shipping burning a hole in your bank account. You can't let Sheryl Crow outdo you now can you. FTR - there are 4 like it being offered, abet not in such mint condition, but in the $5k range...

I'll offer a 20% discount for my '64.... It's mint except the pick guard has shrunk, but is all there. Mine was the best condition I've seen, but this one has mutes and covers. And an exaggerated price.

LOL - I was thinking Batwing headstock, but ok…:wideyed:
On the plus side, I’ve heard some pretty rave reviews about the sounds from the vintage ones, and pretty strong rants about their neck dive. Never played one, so no idea if reviews are accurate, but I think somebody here (Donny???) might have one.

Yes. Darker than the '64 Thunderbird, but same general tone. Nice and light, but gold metal Olympic diver. I need to move the strap button to the neck pocket. Neck has the exact same vintage Thunderbird feel. Same pickups and hardware. Made in the same factory by the same people, from what I've read.

Love this club and all the people in it, so many great posts with tips and tricks and special interest and humor, and even some thunderbird content. However, I’m not a fan of the newly increased advertisements. As a supporting member I used to only get one ad at the header of each 20 post page, no big deal. Now I’m getting at least four ads every 20 posts and it’s getting annoying, even more so when they’re embedded between posts vs at the header or footer. A 400% increase in ad space seems a bit excessive. Is anyone else seeing this?

LOTS of ads in my feed today. I used to only see the ad at the top of the page as well.

Interesting it sounds darker - it's basically a T-bird of another mother. With a set-neck it should at least sound the same as a NR. Does it have the same intonation issue that gen I T-birds had?

Looking at the pic, I hope the G string isn’t flat, there’s no more room to bring it forward. Likewise I hope the E string isn’t sharp, not much room to take it back any further. Also looks like the G and D strings aren’t down in the saddle grooves, but that might just be the way the photo was taken. Sure is a pretty bass though and in darn good shape for one that age. The trans red finish gives a hint of the grain underneath, looks like a solid mahogany body. One of these days I’d like to try one of the vintage embassy basses. Maybe when I move in with Donnie. ;)

I don't think I have seen those pickups discussed before. I'll be interested to hear the sonic review!

I'll get us one...
I was looking at Frahlin's YouTube video and they compare by thickness, skinnier than Gibson's...I'm curious if they sound thinner than...Ox's sound was pretty piano-like at times, growly at others...
Stay tuned...
