Thunderbird Club

Show off. Re Baker. Too much baggage from when he played for them. He was a nightmare off the field.
Dangerous on the field as well. I almost got hit by one of his foul balls. I friend and I were walking along third base side to get something and one of his hits went right between us. I was a Braves fan then and got to see them in Cinci.

First look of my new to me 66 NR from fellow Tber basshag. I'm super pleased it arrived well packed and in one piece and very happy to have it in my collection of misfits. I have had a lot of input on what to do with this bass and I am considering all suggestions. My short term goals were to install a Badbird and a 60s pg, that accomplished I'll live with the bass for a while and let it talk to me. So without further adieu here she is!

I was watching an American who lives in Oz and does car videos that Geoff introduced me to. The one tonight was several car shows. Low and behold Geoff's ride shows up in one of them. He's been holding back. This was close to his location so I'm pretty sure it's his.

What car is that an old Porsche?

Is it really noticeable the sound quality of a set of 040-100 flatwound strings compared to a 045-105 or a 050-110? What do you guys think? I don't have much experience with strings, and what experience I have is with Roundwounds. Would appreciate advice on this.
It’s more about how they feel and react to your playing. Flatwounds tend to be higher tension than rounds so a 50-110 set is going to feel pretty stiff. I put a set of LaBella 1954s (the Jameson set) on a bass once, played a gig and got blisters on both plucking fingers.

I always found the nature documentaries covering reproduction disturbing in their banality. "...here we see the male tsetse fly coupling with the female tsetse fly..." ;)

"They're getting it on like Donkey Kong!" :woot:

It went to the right person, I know you'll give it a great new home, Scott.

Hercules brand bass stands are my favorite.
Do you think this will work for the Firebird and Thunderbird?

Hercules Stands GS422B PLUS Dual Guitar Stand with Auto Grip System and Foldable Yoke
I use both, but typically it’s a straight jack into the amp and a straight or angled into the bass. I have had several angled jacks break off when hit or pulled wrong. When they break off they usually leave the straight end of the connector stuck inside the jack. Not a huge problem to get out on the bass, just remove the control cavity cover and push the connector out from inside the bass. On an amp, when the angled plug breaks and leaves the straight connector in the jack it’s a PITA to get out. Gotta take the amp apart or at least the cover off to get to those jacks, not fun, and maybe even dangerous if you aren’t careful.

Nice piece of mahogany - is the bridge on it unable to intone correctly?
