Thunderbird Club

Why would they stop making the IV's? It'd stand to reason that they wouldn't stop production for a product that sells well. I don't get it... Seems like self-sabotage to me.

No idea. Don't think I've met anyone that's not confused, at least some of the time, by the logic used by Gibson/Epiphone

My guess, though, is that Gibson told them it didn't fit with the direction they wanted the brand to go in......

I don't particularly like the DH-at all. I always thought that in interleague games(which I'm also not too fond of), they shoulda used NL rules in the AL park and vice/versa to give fans a taste of the difference. But, n-o-o-o. That'd make too much sense.
I also hate the 'designated runner' on 2nd in extra innings.:banghead:
You and I both. I have no clue why they accepted the change. Other than to add pitchers and decrease the roster of bench players. It totally sucks.

Market reports are saying this really won't move much if anything from China. The cheap labor offsets mist of the benefits from the bill. Hopefully that isn't the case.
We’ll see. There is a lot of instability now. Some tech companies appear to be serious about decreasing their reliance on China. The transition will be slow and calculated.

I’m sorry for you Dave. You will no doubt burn in hell.

Question. Why did the Dodgers never consider hiring Dusty Baker as a manager when the Giants did?
No idea on Dusty. Also, missing one…

Tonight(Tuesday)was Community Concert Band concert night. I usually use my Ibanez AGB200>2000 Bassman 25 for concert band as I'm s'posed to be a UB(which I don't play)and the semi-hollow Ibby sounds sorta UB-y. I was gonna take the TBird just for S&G, but I'd done all the rehearsals on the Ibanez, so I stuck with it. Maybe play the 67 next concert. Or not.(there is a bit of a space problem).

On another note(Ebb*), every so often I get a reminder of my place-low-on the totem. Got one of those yesterday(OK, Monday-I see it's Wednesday here in EDT). Not worth elaborating on at this time. Oh, well, LSTYD.

Aside: the expression is "low 'man' on the totem pole", which is redundant. The totem is the pole. Saying "totem pole" is akin to saying ATM machine. The M means machine.

*that's E double flat-in other words D.

Yes, but not hyper-focus on it to the point that it looks more like a parody skit, than what it should be: a nature documentary.

I always found the nature documentaries covering reproduction disturbing in their banality. "...here we see the male tsetse fly coupling with the female tsetse fly..." ;)

Is it really noticeable the sound quality of a set of 040-100 flatwound strings compared to a 045-105 or a 050-110? What do you guys think? I don't have much experience with strings, and what experience I have is with Roundwounds. Would appreciate advice on this.

The object with choosing strings is two-fold; feel/playability (how you as a player respond to the strings physically) and sound (tone, responsiveness, resonance, etc) All flats regardless of gauge will sound like flats - all rounds, like rounds. Where your fingers and ears fit into that scenario is key to achieving your sound. It won't happen overnight - it's a journey experimenting with different strings over time. But if you stay dedicated - you will arrive at the perfect combination after jumping through of all the physical hoops on the route to discovering your 'sound'.

I have three Epiphone Goth basses - two made in China and one made in Korea. The Korean Goth is without flaw, one China Goth is riddled with QC issues and the other one is passable but not as good as the Korean Goth. Just one more data point to underscore @JIO point - Capability and Quality in Chinese manufacturing exists as does garbage, unfortunately you just never know which one you’re going to get.

This is the point. Do you (someone) want something that looks like the thing you want but is far cheaper, (and far more cheaply made) or do you want something of good quality for a price that reflects that? "far cheaper" is exactly that - crap. Plus as mentioned, the socio-political side of China is deplorable. Is 'cheap' really acceptable when that is factored in? Not to me it isn't.

and yet experts predict a recession in less than 12 months….

WADR... think that prediction has less to do with China than a partisan manipulation of politics before our mid-term elections... frankly it's best not to further extrapolate, unless you want to risk a thread shut-down. Thunderbird!

I have a number of Korean basses and find them to be every bit as good or better than my basses made in China.

I think the first color TV I remember seeing was around 1962 at a neighbors house. Might have been an Admiral (we had a B&W General Electric). I would have been in kindergarten at the time and I think there were some Saturday morning cartoons on in color at the time. I also remember the picture quality was pretty horrible, something about aligning the three guns in the CRT that needed to be done every so often.
Our household TV was a HMV (His Masters Voice) I was quite taken my the logo badge stuck on it. A dog listening intently to the speaker trumpet.

Our family colour TV circa 76 or 77 was a Rank Arena. Not sure if the US got those brands or if they were just aimed at Commonwealth countries.

Great TV, I guess I’ll just have to deal with the US spelling…. Color indeed!

another cool logo though

I was watching an American who lives in Oz and does car videos that Geoff introduced me to. The one tonight was several car shows. Low and behold Geoff's ride shows up in one of them. He's been holding back. This was close to his location so I'm pretty sure it's his.
