Thunderbird Club

I have worked with a number of Koreas and they are hard workers with attention to detail. I've had a couple musical items made there and there was not a thing wrong with them. Great quality. And no massive human rights abuses as far as I know, unlike some places.....

Exactly - unless some specific part or product I need is only available from China - I do not support them with my money.

I know. If he was happy that's fine. For me you shouldn't try to incorporate every woodworking "trick" you know in one project. Kind of like music. The space between the notes is music as well, and it can't be all notes.
In music, it’s called chugging. That woodwork makes me think the builder was chugging something else.

I remember my grandpa was the first person I knew to get one of those new color TVs. (Likely still paying for it when he died.) We all went over to see such a marvel. It was cool.
The only color TV in the neighborhood we grew up in in San Diego was the PSA pilot’s. He hosted Wizard of Oz parties. Good times.

We got a color TV in ‘66 when a mystery relative died and left my Dad some money. It was a beautiful Motorola that lasted 20 years before it became too expensive to repair.

Hee-hee. 'Course back then, they could get plunked too(no DH).
I hate that the DH is now in the National League even though it has obviously contributed to the Dodgers’ domination this season. I’m as politically progressive as they come. You’re welcome on my (dead because of the drought) lawn. But I preferred the old style NL with no DH.

My only Korean-made bass is the Dano short horn 1999 reissue. For what was supposed to be a reproduction of a low cost bass, there are absolutely no flaws anywhere to be found. Though, my 2018 IV that was made in China is a beautiful bass as well.
I have three Epiphone Goth basses - two made in China and one made in Korea. The Korean Goth is without flaw, one China Goth is riddled with QC issues and the other one is passable but not as good as the Korean Goth. Just one more data point to underscore @JIO point - Capability and Quality in Chinese manufacturing exists as does garbage, unfortunately you just never know which one you’re going to get.

Is it really noticeable the sound quality of a set of 040-100 flatwound strings compared to a 045-105 or a 050-110? What do you guys think? I don't have much experience with strings, and what experience I have is with Roundwounds. Would appreciate advice on this.
I don’t think there’s any significant difference in sound, the real difference will be in playability. Sometimes lighter strings aid in faster or easier play, bends and so on. Sometimes heavier strings are less floppy and work better for some songs. It’s a personal preference thing.

I was watching an American who lives in Oz and does car videos that Geoff introduced me to. The one tonight was several car shows. Low and behold Geoff's ride shows up in one of them. He's been holding back. This was close to his location so I'm pretty sure it's his.

I wanna hear a lot more about that engine!

One thing which is my usual MO is to scour auction sites looking for guitars and basses. The other day, I found a silent witness to what happens when somebody with questionable woodworking skills decides to modify a Gibson Les Paul.

The nutcase seller had the gall to classify this as "In good as new condition." and his asking price was 1255 euros.
IDK what 1255 Euros is in "real" money;), but $12.55USD sounds about right.

:eyebrow: Can't help it if I'm unemployed. I'm not swimming in money, nor I come from a rich family. It's not like the job market is doing great here in Spain either.
My wife’s relatives are in Bilbao. They are fortunate to own property and can survive. They come visit us and we visit them. If things get too tough far them we’ve made it clear that they are welcome here. But they love Spain and will never leave.

I don't particularly like the DH-at all. I always thought that in interleague games(which I'm also not too fond of), they shoulda used NL rules in the AL park and vice/versa to give fans a taste of the difference. But, n-o-o-o. That'd make too much sense.
I also hate the 'designated runner' on 2nd in extra innings.:banghead:

IMO, yes. I had a set of 50-105 EBCFs on my 67 NR. I liked them and they lasted about a year+. I prefer a deep tone and the 50 was bottomier than a 45(Yay!), but I went back to 45-105s 'cos that's the size the current strings(SIT PowerFlats)came in.
