Thunderbird Club

Is it really noticeable the sound quality of a set of 040-100 flatwound strings compared to a 045-105 or a 050-110? What do you guys think? I don't have much experience with strings, and what experience I have is with Roundwounds. Would appreciate advice on this.
I don't think there's much sound difference if you are using different sizes of the same strings. It's more a matter of feel and stiffness.

Well, kind of you might say. A cousin anyway. VW Karmann Ghia. "Slightly" modified!

Speaking of Porsches, saw one Saturday on I4. Convertible, dusty rose chrome plate-entire body! No, I couldn't get a pic in the bumper-to-bumper traffic. The glare damn near blinded me.

First look of my new to me 66 NR from fellow Tber basshag. I'm super pleased it arrived well packed and in one piece and very happy to have it in my collection of misfits. I have had a lot of input on what to do with this bass and I am considering all suggestions. My short term goals were to install a Badbird and a 60s pg, that accomplished I'll live with the bass for a while and let it talk to me. So without further adieu here she is!View attachment 4791416 View attachment 4791417 View attachment 4791418 View attachment 4791419
You must have a thing for those Fender's....

Looks great! I have to admit and if you do a refin on it, the red used on these and others would sure look great. I'm not sure why that was never a popular thing with Thunderbirds.

Who did the Dodgers beat in ‘88?
I have no memory of that. I must have been in another country for a few weeks :)...truthfully, never saw the end of the '89 Battle of the Bay series since it was delayed due to the earthquake and by the time it resumed I was in Spain...apparently, beisbol isn't a big deal in Spain since they don't kick the ball.

Soon to be Las Vegas A's. No one goes to the games anymore and the Oakland refuses to work with them on a new stadium...just like the Raiders.
The Oakland coliseum is a dump extraordinaire !!. When I lived in Santa Cruz I'd go up and panhandle tickets to A's games ! I wouldn't pay to see them even though they had the rookie of the year 4 straight .They were boring. I loved going to the other dump, Candlestick Park to see the Giants. Way more passionate fans !

Willy stares at me all day. From my first Giants game when I was 5. Bottom of 9th, runner on 2nd, tie game, 2 outs, fly ball to center field, and then the magical wind of Candlestink took over. The poor Cardinal outfielder ran himself in circles and never found the ball.
