Well, kind of you might say. A grandson anyway. VW Karmann Ghia. "Slightly" modified!
Also can be known as the VW with the largest trunk! (Which is in the front.)

Ghia has always been one of my favorite coach builders (Giugaro, who won one of the “Best Industrial Designer of the 20th Century” worked with them for years…. light years ahead always….
50’s Fiat…..:drool::drool:

Willy stares at me all day. From my first Giants game when I was 5. Bottom of 9th, runner on 2nd, tie game, 2 outs, fly ball to center field, and then the magical wind of Candlestink took over. The poor Cardinal outfielder ran himself in circles and never found the ball.

Very cool. Even Dodger fans love Willie. A class guy.

That is a beautiful car.

When I met my wife, she drove her Mom’s “Ghia” ‘74 Mustang. I never understood why they let Ford put their emblem on that POS.

The first time I saw my wife driving anything was when she visited at a mutual friend's house it was her dad's pickup with cattle racks in the back.... There was no “Ghia” anything on it in case anyone was wondering.

I don’t think there’s any significant difference in sound, the real difference will be in playability. Sometimes lighter strings aid in faster or easier play, bends and so on. Sometimes heavier strings are less floppy and work better for some songs. It’s a personal preference thing.
45/50-105 are very common and easy to find. Is that the most popular gauge because they are so common or are they so common because of popularity?

I agree that if there is any difference in tone, it is minimal.

I have a much greater appreciation of floppy strings now. I did like heavier strings because it was easier to get lower action without hitting the fretboard, especially with a heavy hand. But now, with rehab, I have a much greater appreciation of floppy strings that are easier to fret and it is a matter of learning control to have a lighter touch and let the amp do the work. 40-90 is working out well (for me).

and yet experts predict a recession in less than 12 months….
We (much of the western world) are already in a recession. The politicians have not yet admitted such. Worse, for the last year, I have been seeing the signs of stagflation; the economists have finally caught up that they see "a risk". Welcome back to the 70s with high interest rates, decreases to real wages, high unemployment, and some shocks to government (tax) revenues.

I’ve had GAS on and off for an EB Stingray. These look nice. Especially the blue and red. New Ernie Ball Short Scale Collection
I used to be a big Stingray fan, had a couple and modded several basses to add a Ray humbucker or Stingray two band preamp. They have a unique look that is kinda love it or hate it, but they do sound awesome. I still have my 1979 PreEB Stingray but haven’t played it much since I messed up my shoulder (like most of the PreEBs she’s a heavy one).

Never tried one of their short scales but I do generally like SS basses in the weight and sound categories, so that one might be something to try.

That bass really grabbed me!
Lucky V to have what she has.

It's a pretty nice old bass, was playing it last week, I'm attempting to master "Living in the Past" by Jethro Tull and besides the '64 that bass has next best playing neck for me - As you said, "there's just something about a Gibson".
