Thunderbird Club

That is a beautiful car.

When I met my wife, she drove her Mom’s “Ghia” ‘74 Mustang. I never understood why they let Ford put their emblem on that POS.
Because Ford had bought Ghia outright and didn’t get a say in it.

Ford Oz started using Ghia as the top trim line instead of XLE and those kind of designations.
So…. Escort Ghia, Laser Ghia, Cortina Ghia, Telstar Ghia, Fairmont Ghia, Fairlane Ghia.
At the end of the Falcon life Fairmont Ghia became G6E for some unfathomable reason.

Don't ask me what's going on here - I don't know!

Two Sixxes. I’m dying of envy here.

Thanks for asking - the cast came off and a nerve analysis confirmed severe carpal tunnel. The fracture is healing slowly but well, but when they did the x-ray that found 2 other issues on top of the fracture. So a two phase operation is scheduled. On Oct 3rd, a (5min) carpal 'relief' surgery and some time yet scheduled a bone-removal surgery. (arthritic scaphoid bone) Apparently there are a cluster of small bones at ones lower hand/wrist that aren't really necessary, and removing them will free-up the nerves and hopefully allow my hand/wrist to get back to 'normal'. In the meantime I wear a removable brace. Next Monday I will ask the Dr if a cortisone shot would give me temporary hand relief so I can rehearse twice a week and do our Sept 17th show more fluidly.

Also, just accepted a Winters Tavern show the Sunday after our Pacifica Performances show where we will debut our new drummer Zach. It will be part of Pacifica's "Fog Fest" weekend, which was cancelled the past two years due to Covid. Because of that - I'm anticipating it being a full house of revelers. (10 bands starting at noon) We have 3, 3hr rehearsal with him before then and I'm confident he can pull it off based on our 1st introductory rehearsal with him which went well. Once those shows are history - the rest of the year will depend on my surgery recoveries but we plan to record 4 originals by Paul, probably by Feb 2023.

Sorry for the long-winded update - but I've had to think in long-range plans a lot lately. :)
Hope you are feeling better.

If they do a steroid injection for the carpal tunnel, it may delay the release surgery (different surgeons can have different opinions). But a delay on the CT release surgery may not be a big issue. Some get nearly permanent relief after one steroid injection. The scaphoid bone, like others in the wrist, have their own purpose and spurs/poor healing can limit your movements, but you may find work arounds.

CT release surgery is really straight forward. Done as an out patient under local. It is simply cutting a ligament that is just under the skin. In and out in less than 20 minutes. A plastic surgeon will leave no visible scar. And you will be starting to play again in about a week.

Good luck, I hope it all works out for you.

Edit to add - keep wearing the brace. Reducing movement reduces the pressure on the nerve and relieves the inflammation to a degree.

Ghia has always been one of my favorite coach builders (Giugaro, who won one of the “Best Industrial Designer of the 20th Century” worked with them for years…. light years ahead always….

Very cool! Just don't park it on the street (no bumpers)...

Thanks! :) All good information and advice - I will hash it out next Monday with the surgeon to chart the best course.
