Thunderbird Club

Hi, guys, girls and our one and only Queen.

Long time no see. Stumbled across the thread in my search of the right tuners and well I just had to check in to wish all of you a merry christmas.

Got a new job during the summer and had absolutely no time aside from work and playing some bass, but it helps to save up some money for more basses and gear.

Thinking about getting a GK 550 Fusion in the next few months, not 100% sure as I have to order it from Germany, but reviews seem to be nice and I can send it back within a month.

Here's my birdcollage, to re-activate my membership :p :

Merry Xmas!
Get the Fusion 550- I have been gigging one for five years or so- they are great.
Recently got a MB Fusion 500 - excellent as well- particularly when I couldn't be bothered lugging the 550!

Merry Xmas, everyone! One more sleep "till I get to read the Gibson Bass Book! :hyper:

Someone mention "Thud" ? This one will have seen 61 Xmases. Not a TBird but cool as they come, still going strong and 100% original.

This is the only Bassman pedal I am aware of, but then again I honestly never looked for one. Not a DI pedal tho. I agree with you that it does seem like that would be something they would try to sell on the bass market.

Boss FBM-1 Fender Bassman Overdrive Pedal

On the Hartke Bass Attack DI they had a setting for a Bassman sound, which was the setting I actually used when I owned that pedal. I used to own a Trace Elliot V-Type preamp and the 300H model head. Those had a "Fender Tone Stack" style knob I believe. But those heads sound great anyhow IMO whether or not you are trying to get a Bassman setting out of it.
Thanks. That Boss pedal looks interesting. Not quite what I was thinking of. The Zoom will live on.

I'm not keen on short scale instruments and it's unlikely one would come up here anyway.

I would say, try the Epi EB-3 if you come across one - They are really nicely made and dirt cheap.

My Ebony came perfectly set up with a nice low action, and the finish is impeccable.

7enders do look better with matching headstocks.... A shame they don't do that as standard.

It is! I guess it is all part of the Fender ethos of cutting production costs on their standard products

Mine was a non matching, I painted it myself and stuck a decal in there, the original decal is under the paint so it can be cut back in the future if needed

I've always wished they had matching necks, as well as headstocks.
That I could live with and it would lessen the cost of just doing the headstock but then they couldn't just churn out generic necks by the million, they would need to keep them painted from the same batch of paint as the body to be 100% correct

Whoa, that is pricey. What do they sound like, in comparison to the XLs, since you've used both? Also do they only come in that one set of gauges?

They sound similar to the XL's (that's why i like and use both,) but the TI's just sound better to me, more full, more ...complex, and tend to last 5-10 times as long, in my experience.
I think the Powerbass line is just that gauge, but they feel similar to the XL's as well (to me.)

i've never had cobalt strings and it says it's "super bright" ;D

Try some new rounds, Dunlop Super Brights, for instance. They say 'super bright' in bigger letters.

Flats are not known for sizzling highs, especially compared to rounds.
