Thunderbird Club

IIRC, it took months for you to finally close a deal on your first Thunderbird. So, not unusual to take a few tries to find the right Thunderbird.

Actually, one of my cousins bought my very first one, a bolt on.
I immediately traded it for the burst Bird I have now.
Pictured in my recent post.
All the mods I did.

So really, my cousin got the ball rolling.

last gig with this lineup tonight…..:crying:
Jerry (keyboards/guitar) is 72 and doesn’t wanna haul gear anymore…..bummed…

Another opportunity will arise - good/dependable bass-players are always needed. :bassist:

from last night…local radio station interviewed the band….there was a table of beautiful women (who danced like strippers) who were taking too much attention from the local girls resulting in a pretty entertaining cat fight…..funny stuff…:hyper::D..all in all, good gig..

This happened a few hours ago. Ever since Facebook came around I got in touch with a lot of former classmates and for most of them it's a cordial “How are you, what have you been doing?” kind of thing.

One of them is a woman who was a classmate during my final year in high school. She and I weren't all that close during that time seeing our age gap, she's six years younger than I am but graduated early thanks to her grades, so she's a smart cookie.

We started interacting more because of her almost being a neighbor of the drummer of the band "Rote Sau” I was in at the time. She'd bring along her young son when we had rehearsals, and everybody in the band really liked hanging with her.

After the band folded our interactions slowed down but out of the blue she said “I've arranged a babysitter, let's go paint the town red!” And I went “Sure.” drove over there, picked her up and went to my favorite watering hole.

But as soon as we got there, her demeanour started to change, she went from all smiling and joking into suspicious on why I took her there and what those people in the bar were about. And then she ordered her first drink.

The hours that followed are a bit hazy, but I decided to fade into the background, leave her alone while she drank pint after pint after pint, growing increasingly more vocal in the process. She then started a rant that all men could think of was to (and I'm using a Safe for work term) “dance horizontally” and gave me some evil glares.

But things truly went bad when a young lesbian couple started kissing, and she dove in between them. Ranting that with their open display of affection, they weren't helping her case on what she had been ranting about all that time. One of the women walked up to me and said, “Please take that evil woman away, she ruins it for everybody!”

I apologized for having brought her along in the first place, I was feeling so ashamed. Luckily, she knows me, knows who I am, knows that I was sincere, she went “No harm done Walter, you only wanted to give her a good time.” The Bartender agreed, this wasn't my fault.

So I went to the shouting and ranting Karen that was my former classmate and said “Okay Diana, that's enough, let's just go home okay?” At which she got fire in her eyes and started wailing on me,”NO, YOU GO HOME YOU (Expletive) I'MMA STAY HERE AND HAVE FUN!”

At that moment the bartender called out “The final call.” and she roared; “THE FINAL CALL FOR WHO?!” I once again tried to reason with her, “Come on, let's just go.” But she once again began shouting obscenities at me and the other nodding at me in sympathy at which I said to the others “Somebody, please make sure she gets home safely okay?”

She went “Yeah, you'd better leave, I never want to see your sorry butt again, you (Expletive)”

I never had to deal with a Karen directly, and I hope I won't have to for a long while to come. I blocked her on Facebook pretty much straight away.

You can't deal with people like that.

You should've left her sorry arse to fend for herself, there's being chivalrous and a gentleman, and then there's taking on abuse unnecessarily.

If ever there was a legitimate use of a Micky Finn.

Sorry to hear potentially good intentions on your part went south so dramatically... just know you did your best, and realize that person has major issues that are out of your control and not your problem.

Personally I think is really shines in a big room. The sound fills out and is just massive sounding. True of most rigs, but even my Ampeg tube head and Heritage 410 sounded unpleasant at home. Took it to a church...sounded fantastic.
Yeah. This was a rig George gigged with. It sounds really good. It’s not as versatile as my Mesa TT 800 and Subway 410. But it does sound nice with the Thunderbirds I’ve played through it so far. The ‘21 NR and the Epi Blackbird both sound great. Tonight I’m going to try the VP.

Three of my birds are in John Caruthers’ shop. The ‘15’s bridge volume pot crapped out. And the Pelham Blue Epi also needs a bridge pot. The ‘13 is getting a level, crown and fret end dress. I can’t wait to really hear the ‘15 through it.

How is John? Haven’t seen him in 20+ years and that was at the Venice shop.
