Love my IV but my CP is just that much better.

Love my CP and from my short try of a VP in the local L&M, I prefer my CP*.


* Of course, my CP is dialed in the way I like it and the VP was off the wall into whatever amp was closest with the same settings as the last guy...

As much as many here sing the praises of the VP, the CPs have fans as well, as evidenced by the paucity available on the used market.

Actually, truth be told - if I were looking for another modern Gibson Thunderbird, I’d start by looking for a good deal on an Epiphone CP (which can occasionally be found at regular used Eppi IV prices). It would run about a thousand dollars less than a nice clean Gibson Thunderbird and is nearly everything the Gibson Thunderbird is in sound, look and feel. Failing that I’d look for a super clean used VP for under $600. Failing that I’d try to find a Greco for under $1200. Failing that, then and only then I’d buy a used Gibson Tbird for $1500 or less.

Visited the LM stores in Brantford and St-Catharines during my summer vacation. They were both sorta on my way from the Georgian Bay (bike vacation) and Niagara Falls (Canada Games). Made quite a find at the Ste-Cath store (a 2016 Gibson SJ-200 in mint condition, for about half the price they are going) , real nice folks over there. No one came to see me in Brantford, but they might have been busy with incoming gear.

It is my preferred scale length. Short scale seems a little cramped. Still have and play plenty of long scale though.

Anything I build now is medium scale. Have one in the early stages now. Scratch build. Will be a medium scale Tbird, all mohogany neck through with binding.

You just described an apprenticeship. That's exactly what I went through to become a master electrician. 40 hours/week on the job training, with pay. 1 night per week of classroom time.

Pay increased according to hours on the job. After 4 years you are a journeyman. Two years as a journeyman and you can test for master license. I worked out very well for me.

Yep. Helps both sides figure out if this is going to work out. That always made the most sense for a good many people. Sadly it's only offered in a very few trades, but could work just as well for office jobs and many in between.

The staff at L&M are variable. The staff at my local (Burlington) are fantastic.

It isn't clear which one you are talking about. If it is the one that caused all the problems, why would you put yourself through that again?

I am understanding correctly, you have until the days expire on your notice. If you haven't clicked that you want that price and deal and then pay shortly thereafter it is void. There may be another short period of payment after you click you're interested in that price.
