Thunderbird Club

Ready for a New Years jam session with my party Bird...

Anyone here ever try 'jumpering' a 2 channel valve head? Jumpering gave good results with locally built AC30s (for guitar) back in the day but not sure I've ever seen anyone doing it with bass. I've seen a pup run into each channel in a pseudo-stereo configuration but that's not quite the same.

I used to have a Marshall full stack with a 100W SuperBass amp on which I jumped the two channels - It's many years ago now, but remember it sounding fantastic, as one channel was kinda dark sounding (lots of bottom) and the other had quite a bit of treble bite - So by jumping them I had both bottom and bite... :)

That's channel changing - done plenty of that as well. By jumpering I mean (on an amp with 2 inputs per channel) a patch cable from the second input of channel 1 to the the first input of channel 2.

That's exactly what I did on my Marshall SuperBass amp...

I am not sure if I understood you here, with regards to your guitarist using wireless or instrument cable? If he uses cable, suggest that he buys something with one of these G & H silent tips. It allows you to plug in/unplug cable without the noise. Lava cables come with them (but theirs are crazy expensive).Invalid Link Removed

I have a couple of Lavas with these and they work pretty well.

I use these on my homemade cables, whenever I use a cable:

silentPLUG - Neutrik

Otherwise, when I'm going wireless I have both wireless unit running into this Behringer BTR2000 Racktuner, which has two footpedals connected - One for changing inputs, the other for muting while switching instruments or tuning:

Works great, and you can plug a lead into the front of it, if the wireless breaks down... :)

Thanks for the info regards the amps folks . Id read a while back that the PF class D had some issues in the 350 and 500 models but it seems to be resolved now . Although Ive bought many things pre owned , I think in this instance it will be a new amp I go for so full warranty would be there for insurance . The combo Im using just now has been pretty decent and not let me down yet . But its around 60ibs with a 1x12 180 watts , its loud enough to compete with our drummer and two guitars and vocal easily . Its just that Id like a bit more headroom and lighter weight lol .

I use the Neutric connectors on all my instrument leads now . The Van Damme leads are excellent value for money , although Ive now gone wireless after a generous after Christmas gift from our rythm guitarist . It means I can now wander around and annoy the lead player

Are epi bolt ons eligible here? I joined a soad tribute, lost the love for my odd man out bass, sr500, and jumped at the opportunity to trade it for a Gothic and $100 including a bag and strap. It was a wrestle to set it up for drop C, but I was able to do it by adding a lot of neck relief, and tilting the bridge back to put tension on the saddles. I also had to crimp the ends of the .115 string to get it to fit in the bridge.

It has the look I need, and the sound is not bad either, though I may upgrade the pickups eventually. If the band starts getting the higher pay gigs, I might get a "real one". I am pretty happy with this one though, the black satin finish on the back of the neck is really nice.

I would be curious to date it. It is Korean made and the serial number starts with letter I . it does not feel nearly as cheap as I expected either.

Epiphone bolt-on Thunderbirds are very much eligible for a club membership here - As long as you post a picture of the bass and ask for a membership, our highness will be issueing you a membership number when you have passed the initiation test (running stark naked through your city, screaming out loud "I love Thunderbirds", while wearing a big butt bow (and nothing else) - Video documentation mandatory.... ;)

In regards to your serial number - Try running it through one of these pages:

If you do a google search for dating your Epiphone bass or guitar , you will see theres around three different places that will tell you all the info you need . Just type in the SN into the search bar on the site and it will tell you year of manufacture and which factory it came from . My Epi is a bolt on so all good . And welcome aboard
