Thunderbird Club

I forgot to mention that changing "guitars" means switching from a 'Bird to a doghouse on occasion. Now that I'm wireless most of the time, the problem is pretty much solved by stepping on the receiver and turning off the signal. I still have the AB boxes, but one of the guitarists I play with is supposed to use them. He switches between three guitars. Except he just unplugs. That makes awful noises. I really wish he would use the box.

Of course if true, the intent of that anecdote was to show Hill up as being a thick Brummie yokel, whereas in reality it's indicative of a quick and wicked sense of humour.

It's remarkably difficult to find decent smoked and/or streaky bacon in this country. The cold North has its benefits.

Taken from Urban Dictionary:
Brummie - A person from Birmingham (UK) - distinguishable by the unique accent. The term derives from Brummagem or Bromwichham, historical variants of the name Birmingham.

I'll stop now before I get labeled a numpty (or confirm that I am one).

@rumblejunkie - aye nae bother pal, these things happen. If you buy a PF500 make sure it has a full warranty.

@Gaolee - G******ists eh? In the channel-changing days, one g*****ist ran through a microamp into a jumpered AC30 clone and broke a string every other song and would frequently pick up the open D tuning guitar and retune it more or less in mid-song (days before pedal tuners etc). The other ran through a passive A/B channel changer into another AC30 clone and only did a bit of casual tuning up between songs. When they were in tune and all strings present, sounded ok actually.

Bass players are models of decorum in comparison.

I am not sure if I understood you here, with regards to your guitarist using wireless or instrument cable? If he uses cable, suggest that he buys something with one of these G & H silent tips. It allows you to plug in/unplug cable without the noise. Lava cables come with them (but theirs are crazy expensive).Invalid Link Removed

I have a couple of Lavas with these and they work pretty well.

Quite varied in your options.

Are those all available for you to try?

The rumble and TC are available to try but the Ampeg not so . Thats the three that Ive narrowed it down to . The rumble would probably be option 1 . A for the extra headroom and B the weight . I love the look of the TC and its cheaper but gets great reviews and the Ampeg is the head and cab option rather than a combo .

The PF500 had a reputation as a premium magic smoke generator. This has reportedly been fixed - unfortunately not in my experience, which is why you should ensure you get one with full warranty. The PF800 has a very good rep. The Portaflex class Ds sound great for solid state amps. The advantage of having a seperate head and cab, is you can keep one and replace the other if you need/want to.

Haven't heard about bad PFs in awhile. Likely fixed. The Fenders had a similar run at the onset. All decent product at this point

Yeah, the fault with mine was probably not so much bad manufacture as sudden deceleration after encountering a hard surface before I bought it (causing a crack in the main board). It was still in warranty but the warranty is not transferable. When it failed the second time, well it was a great excuse to buy a valve head.

I'm sorry for your loss, but will congratulate you on your tube snobbery!

That's a bit odd you'd actually want to "have" a Mohican. Is that in a Biblical sense or in a possessive sense which would be difficult since they are a proud lot and not keen on being owned?

I believe you may have been referring to a Mohawk but one can't be sure such as we all have to deal with this language barrier we have with you, Colin. :D
I doubt they'd mind being had by one small Welshman, they were had good and proper nearly 200 years ago

If it's any consolation it's very difficult to get decent bacon of any sort here too. We've resorted to making our own and smoking it ourselves, a wintertime job as it needs hanging for 10 days in the cool after curing, not much chance in Sydney unless you have a cold room. Worth the effort, a smoked bacon sarnie with butter and doorsteps in the stuff of legend.

Apparently Dave Hill saw himself as becoming more sophisticated so he used to drink Blue Nun wine, how times have changed
