I'm really curious about those Pyramids.
How do they compare tonally to Labella DTF's.

I would say thicker and more mids. All mids not just one freq which helps them sounds really full. At least to me.

Interestingly, wild turkeys fly very well-and make a lotta racket. Also not quite as stupid.

Saw a flock fly on to the roof of a two story house. Problem for them was the building integrated solar roofing panels. Their claws had nothing to grab on to and they all turned into bowling balls. Forgot they could fly.

Yes, a '55. I've had it about as long as the '64 Thunderbird (1981ish). Body refin on the 55 may be as old as I am (59!). Fender flats in the pic, but it has Pyramid Gold flats on it now and sounds really good.

The one I just bought has fiber saddles, not sure if I'll change it out for a Deluxe bridge that also fits it.

They're just a bit too expensive-for me-to try as an experiment when I'm perfectly happy with EBCFs or SIT PowerFlats.

Sure! I don't recall exactly, but I think our VW bus could do 0-60 in just a few seconds. West Texas seconds, but still.
One would hope they have upgraded the engine in that VWRV.

They are very similar but from different sources. The Epiphone 760 Probuckers a little dirtier, I actually like them better than the Gibsons that seem cleaner to my ears.

I wish they'd make the Epi pickups available as well.

there wouldn’t be unless you make use of the 6550’s more rugged construction by upping voltage and current….I can put a 426 big block V8 in place of a 225 slant 6 but if I don’t upgrade the fuel pump I won’t see any major gain….sure, one can say, “the motors already have properly sized pumps” which is true but you get the idea…

And even if just dropping the tubes in upped the power, it would require both transformers to be over-spec'd by 20% to begin with, or one of them would blow the first time you slammed it. (To continue the car analogy, think of the output transformer as the transmission. A bigger motor could rip it up when you punch it and dump the clutch. Can't think of a good power transformer analogy. Oh, well.)

EB cobalts are a distant second.

Maybe Optima RB are second? dunno anymore, only gonna buy pyramids from now on.....

I have a custom light gauge set of pyramids on a CP, and optima RB on a VP.

I like them both a lot. Not sure if there is a clear winner. Both sounded good right out of the package. I have a set of GHS precision flats on a jaguar PJ that I also like , but they needed a little time to break in.
