Thunderbird Club

I've thought for a long time that I'd love to have a chrome guitar or bass.
Ronnie Montrose nearly blinded me with one...or maybe it was all the smoke floating around The Winterland...

Hockey I understand. I'll never get golf.
Golf courses look like a great place to ride a 2-stroke dirt bike with big knobbies. Launching out of a sand trap and landing in full roost mode on the green would be the proper use of a golf course. Turf everywhere, especially in the air.

What are your dream/favorite guitars (Not basses)? Anyone here has had/has a Firebird? My dream guitar is Brian May's Red Special.
For me, it would have to be a 1950s ES125 or ES175. Maybe an ES335 if there's one with a fistful of neck. I have a Loar copy of an ES125 and another that's the acoustic version like an L48. That's as close as I'm ever likely to get. I had an Ibanez ES335 clone for a while, and probably should never have let it go. I didn't like the way the pickups sounded. Swapping pickups is pretty easy relative to finding the right guitar.

So it goes. I make them all sound lousy anyway. And, just for the record, life and everything is all about the f-holes.

Al Czervik had the right idea with the beer tap and the stereo in the golf bag.

Go to one game. Live is much better than on TV. We went to the Lightning/Senators game Tuesday night. Exciting and a bit frustrating 'til mid 3rd period when our guys got offa their collective @$$.

A fun way to learn the rules of hockey is to go with someone knowledge to a peewee hockey tournament. Those little ones take so long to get down the ice on a 3 on 2 that you have ample time to explain the offensive opportunity that is in motion.

I had Edmonton Oilers seasons tickets a number of years ago, and have already bought tickets for Seattle Kraken vs Edmonton Oilers Dec 30th. Kraken tickets start around $90 a seat which I think may be cheaper than last year. And they currently have a winning record at 6 wins 4 losses and 2 ties.

This sounds too "mature" perhaps but my dream guitar is the one I own:

A bottom of the line 1981 Ibanez Blazer BL50MH. The neck is just perfect and the two humbuckers are quite versatile even though there's no coil switches. Out-of-phase switch is handy too.
I bought it as a tool to compose music (sounds pretentious...) and it has fulfilled that role perfectly and I think I have progressed with my guitar playing a bit too along the way.

That said, I'd like to have another, preferably the one with 3 Super 6 pickups and a fancy color. Such as this:

Ibanez makes quality guitars/basse, always have. This model reminds me of another '80s guitar -

I'll never do that again: Bought a toy hauler, equipped same, took it to UTV Takeover in Sand Hollow UT (18-23 Oct), up at 6 AM (not by choice), day and night rides, usually by campfire til 2:30AM, 3 days to clean when we got home due to sandstorm, rainstorm, snowstorm, here's proof:

Bottom line was too exhausted and busy to follow this thread, was over 1,800 behind, just caught up. Don't let yourself get that far behind.

Just wanted to pick the collective brain here on one of the most active clubs on TB. Generally speaking....I can't for the life of me figure out why the newer Thunderbird NR has so many negative reviews. I understand it may not be everyone's cup 'o tea, but it seems to get a thumbs down more often than not by YouTube reviewers. For those of you that have 'em, does your experience line up with the disdain for this model? I definitely dig mine. Looks amazing, sounds thick, and has great clarity, IMO. Here's a pic of my NR with my '79 bicentennial bird:
