Thunderbird Club

Just wanted to pick the collective brain here on one of the most active clubs on TB. Generally speaking....I can't for the life of me figure out why the newer Thunderbird NR has so many negative reviews. I understand it may not be everyone's cup 'o tea, but it seems to get a thumbs down more often than not by YouTube reviewers. For those of you that have 'em, does your experience line up with the disdain for this model? I definitely dig mine. Looks amazing, sounds thick, and has great clarity, IMO. Here's a pic of my NR with my '79 bicentennial bird:

Ask The Queen @TBird1958 or @Chucky Stiletti. They should have the answer to that. PS: LowEndLobster ISN'T a good source for reviews, the guy's unapologeotically biased, plus he has no idea of what he talks about most of the time.

I know there are gonna be folks in this particular club that obviously like the NR. I'm trying to figure out why the consensus of most YT reviewers seem to feel similarly. I do tend to wonder if the same would hold true if there were a different name on the headstock. There's a couple vids (I think several folks from here) that are actually favorable, but otherwise it seems heavily slanted towards negativity.

You shouldn't focus much on Youtubers, most of them are heavily biased. So their opinions have as much worth as dung on the side of the street. I personally have nothing against NR's, though personally I just don't like the aesthetic, I prefer Reverse Thunderbirds.

I'll never do that again: Bought a toy hauler, equipped same, took it to UTV Takeover in Sand Hollow UT (18-23 Oct), up at 6 AM (not by choice), day and night rides, usually by campfire til 2:30AM, 3 days to clean when we got home due to sandstorm, rainstorm, snowstorm, here's proof:

Bottom line was too exhausted and busy to follow this thread, was over 1,800 behind, just caught up. Don't let yourself get that far behind.

Utah is the best. hope to spend a few weeks there this winter. I do it on two wheels though.

Just gotta go when you can set the pace and take enough time to rest. It is exhausting.

Don't believe all that bad press.

Most of em' are shills for some kind of product or another, most are into sensationalism to boost their views and subscribers. It's entertainment at best...

I love mine, everything about it. Solid, throaty pickups, no QC issues my only problem is that I don't have enough time to play them all.
What it doesn't do is sound like one of Leo 7ender's basses, some folks want every bass they own to do that and then end up not liking it because it doesn't. I know, makes no sense - but is often the case.

Case in point: LowEndLobster. I believe 0 words that come out of his bearded mouth, I watch him for entertainment, he's morbidly entertaining, but that's it.

My buddy Blair's shot, god what I would give to go see this train again - If I could go back in time.

Or you could just go for a walk:laugh:
…So, you’ve seen me golf then. I walk from the tee box to the trees to the sand trap to the lake and then all over the green.
And if I get frustrated, I got this little white ball I can smack the heck out of with a club.

Golf is admittedly an odd sport. It’s boring as heck to watch as a spectator and lasts for hours and hours. If you try to take up the sport it’s pure frustration and disappointment until you get good enough to not be utterly embarrassed with every swing. To add to the embarrassment factor the golf course will frequently pair you up with golfers that have been playing the game for years, they just roll their eyes, giggle or huff every time you screw up. Getting good enough to enjoy playing golf can take years or a lot of expensive lessons. To add insult to injury, it’s not a cheap sport to play. But once you get good at it, it’s quite fun and rewarding, kinda like playing bass.

I remember a golf convo here waaaaaaaaay back when.
Lets just say it was a personal playground of destruction.
I'd be banned from entering a course.

Golf is too posh for my tastes.

I'm relatively new to the SXS world, and love going with our group. Ours is from 17-27 people, 7-10 or more buggies. Plus much help if something goes wrong, great camaraderie (kinda like this club). We're already booked for Easter in Moab. Sand Hollow riding goes from Sand dunes to severe rock crawling, and also a reservoir for fishing, etc. Same for Moab, less the resevoir.

I did miss playing my ThunderThings though.
