Thunderbird Club

I realize it being a movie it's exaggerated... but I'll never 'get' ice-hockey.
Go to one game. Live is much better than on TV. We went to the Lightning/Senators game Tuesday night. Exciting and a bit frustrating 'til mid 3rd period when our guys got offa their collective @$$.

What are your dream/favorite guitars (Not basses)? Anyone here has had/has a Firebird? My dream guitar is Brian May's Red Special.

An early Firebird VII in red with gold hardware.
A close second would be a greenburst 4 pickup guitar Lafayette sold circa 1967. Same concept as one Jio posted, though I think the body shape was a bit different.

I see your dilemma. You would make yourself and everyone here really happy if you built about 10-15 (for starters) with various finishes. Problem solved. :smug: Just a thought.
Bingo!
:DI just need about $10,000 in spare pocket change to make that happen. Looking under the couch cushions now…

I'm thinking you need the Kamelon 8 from page 2.

Do you know someone who's used them?
I assume that’s one of those color shift finishes, if so I’d have to see it in action to decide.
Unfortunately I don’t know anyone that has used them. I just figured one body finish wouldn’t set me back much and might give me a good feel for how they are to do business with.

I've thought for a long time that I'd love to have a chrome guitar or bass.
Warwick has some very cool chrome finishes. I’ve often wondered how durable that finish would be.

Christmas presents for the regulars! <3
:roflmao::roflmao::roflmao: Wouldn’t that be a wonderful world:thumbsup:

Frank has two Epi Firebirds, Burst and Olive green, both are super nice - I was actually playing the Burst (badly) today.

Happy Thursday!

I owned a 'burst' NR Firebird for a while(I had dreams of putting together an all NRBird band). Wish I'd kept it.
BTW, my "guitar playing" can best be described as "I gots E and A and I'm workin' on D".

I never cared for hockey until I went to a game a friend was playing in (local league in Atlanta years ago). It was a blast.

There are two sports viewing experiences everyone should try at least once. Attend live professional Hockey match, and attend a live College Basketball game. Both are high energy crowd involvement experiences.

I only attended one "Sharks" game in San Jose in the '90s. When Neil Young lived on the Peninsula he used to attend their games. A bit less violent than the movie portrayed. Just can't get over a "sport" where the "referee" just stands there watching two alpha-males slam each other into the walls and beat on each other (and not in a boxing ring) to the delight of the fans. I always thought Hockey was different than WWwhatever/All Star Wrestling...

Nothing against Canadians or Americans who partake - I've heard Hockey is not like this in Russia - more about skill than violence. But that was told to me by a friend from Moscow. I like skill/competitiveness in sports - I'm just not big on violence and if it's "playful"/hightened for the audience - I outgrew theatrical "wrestling" as as a kid. Oh, also outgrew "football"... but that's just me. :) Enjoy what you enjoy.

This sounds too "mature" perhaps but my dream guitar is the one I own:

A bottom of the line 1981 Ibanez Blazer BL50MH. The neck is just perfect and the two humbuckers are quite versatile even though there's no coil switches. Out-of-phase switch is handy too.
I bought it as a tool to compose music (sounds pretentious...) and it has fulfilled that role perfectly and I think I have progressed with my guitar playing a bit too along the way.

That said, I'd like to have another, preferably the one with 3 Super 6 pickups and a fancy color. Such as this:

TV doesn't do car racing whether oval, road or drag racing justice either. Not only hearing but feeling the power is something else. Other sports I have no interest in attending anymore due to idiocy of too many fans.

When I was 15 (1979) I bought a 1966 Gibson NR Firebird, triple pickup, and a stop bridge/tailpiece for $500. The model Gatemouth Brown plays. The finish was nearly a mosaic because of all the fine crack lines. I didn't appreciate what I had. I sold it to fund a brand new 1980 Les Paul Deluxe. I regret that decision. It has led to my current behavior of hoarding basses.

I sold it to Gordy Matthews who later went on to be the guitarist for The Reclines, aka K.D. Lang & The Reclines. I didn't even make any money on the deal, I only had it for less than a year and sold it for what I paid.

Below's a similar pic of a mint survivor example from Reverb. Mine had huge patina. And as I said a one-piece tailpiece/bridge that had non-adjustable saddles molded into the top, so no intonation adjustments.

EDIT: Actually upon closer examination the "bridge" on this example looks to be the one-piece stop tailpiece I described. Mine never had the tremolo bar.
My late friend had a Non-Reverse like that with 3 P90’s. I’m planning to contact his brother to ask if I can trace it.
