Then I just bolted on the new bridge. The three post were not perfectly perpendicular to each other, So I had to be careful to tighten down all three side evenly.

Happy New Year, all.

Question - got my 1st fx pedal (TC Corona). I am going through new 9v batteries quick - estimate them lasting about 12 hours despite unplugging it when not in use.

Is it normal for pedal batteries to go this quick? I am getting a power supply so the battery issue is moot. My concern is that there is something wrong with the pedal.

Thx.

I'm not familiar with the TC Corona pedal but for just about any other pedal I can think of (as long as you unplug all leads at the actual pedal) your batteries should last much much longer than that (weeks if not months longer). Not sure if you're doing this but if by chance you leave the lead plugged into the pedal but unplugged from the guitar you'll drain the batteries in hours, you must unplug at the pedal to disconnect the pedal.

So if you're doing everything right, then yes, I'd suspect you have a defective pedal. If by chance its not defective and it's battery chompin habits are normal, I'd sh#tcan the lousy design and find a better pedal post haste.

I put the strings on, and noticed that the bridge may not be making 100% full contact. It's snug where the bolts clamp the bridge down, but there is a small gap in the distance between the bolts.

It' s more noticeable on the "front" side nearest the neck. It didn't seem like a big deal at first, but the more I looked at it the more I thought, "that's not optimum". I took a piece of paper and it was easy to slide it right under the bridge. So I took the strings back off, took the bridge off, put it back on and bolted it back down. I ended up with the same results. I put the strings on again to see if that would have any effect. It didn't. It was late so I left it. I adjusted string height and played around with the new bridge. I adjusted the truss rod a bit. It plays well. I'm gonna have to go back and figure out how to get the bridge more flush with the body.

Any tips or suggestions are welcome.

I looked up the serial number of this bass and it was made March 2009.

Earlier I mentioned how the color was different under the bridge where it got no sunlight. Well, I took off the pick guard while doing some other stuff to the bass, and found the color to be dramatically different under there. As you can see in the photo.

I also oiled the fret board for the first time. I bought this bass used, probably about 4 years ago.

I'd let someone off ozbass come around to try a bass out, but not a random bod off eBay/Gumtree. Paypal is not a problem.

Investigated shipping options on Reverb.com but they were eye-wateringly expensive.

Good bunch on Ozbass. What are you trying to sell there? I couldn't find a listing- must have just missed it.
I have sold a few things there and bought there too. No problems at all. I guess most of the guys are Fender people, but nice ones.

I have tried to use Gumtree to sell, but as others have said- time wasters. Also watch out for scammers. My son has had more success on Gumtree.
Have you thought about the Facebook groups? Australian Bass Guitar equipment and Bass gear trade/ sell/ buy Australia are two I know of. Not sure how much sells on them, but maybe worth a try.

The gap at the rear of the bridge wouldn't bother me but that front gap would. Keep in mind the original three point bridge was never supposed to be in contact with the body so there wasn't necessarily a strong need for the bass builder to create a dead flat body surface to rest the bridge on. Since you're using the same three bolts I suspect you've got a good enough mount to make the bass function as intended. That said, the fit in the front would drive my OCD nutz.

Some random thoughts...
you mentioned that the three stud inserts aren't perpendicular. I suspect the bridge body is too thick and robust to let a little misalignment bend the base but just to make sure, take the strings off, completely unscrew the bolts and just set the bridge in place on the body. When you do that can you rock the bridge, or do you still see the gaps?

If not, then the misaligned inserts are messing with your bridge and the best fix will be to pull the inserts, glue dowel rods in the holes and drill new holes using a drill press vs a hand drill, then reinstall the inserts and you should be good to go.
However, if it's not the inserts and you see the gaps, or the bridge rocks when you just set it in place on the body, it's you're bridge bottom that isn't parallel to the bass top.

To test the bridge bottom for flatness set the bridge on a known flat surface (kitchen countertop will work). Does the bridge rock on that surface or do you see the same gaps? If yes, then your bridge isn't flat across the bottom. However, if there's no gap or rocking then it's your bass top that isn't flat. I wouldn't mess with the bass top, so that means you'll need to mess with the underside of the bridge to either make it flat or to compensate for how unflat your bass top is.

If you need to create a flat bottom on your bridge just run it in a circular motion over some 200 grit sandpaper that's on a solid flat surface until it sits flat on the kitchen counter and your bass.

If you need to compensate for a non flat bass top you'll need to mark the portions of the bridge bottom that are contacting the bass and sand them down until the bass sits flush on the body with no gap or rocking.

Alternatively - you could just keep everything as is and use the front bridge gap as a pic holder.;)

I have both the EB3 (SG) and the EB2013. Either is a great addition to the TBird line up. In fact you could get the 2015 TBird which has the EB2013 electronics and kill two birds with one stone.
Yep, I thought of the 15 TBird as an option - it will be a lot more expensive though.
No rush, I'll just keep my eyes open and hopefully it will all fall together.

Corona is supposedly 75mA draw. Can't say if mine chews batteries cos it still has not been delivered and it will be going straight on the Cioks PSU. You can do the maths on mAh rating of the battery to work out approximately how log it should last. BUT it shouldn't be draining when unplugged.

Dated my bird, august 2006, Saein factory in Korea. Still my "youngest bass", but the ibanez SR500 I traded for it was a year younger 2007 from the CP factories in Korea, Cort and forgot what the P was, but remember it was a 2 factory build.

I'm glad this bird is over 10 yrs old, and MIK, I assume the current $299/349 goths are now China/Indonesia?
My Goth is China build.

Sucky. Unfortunately, the external drives are the least troublesome (heel wheels and bullets) are the least used.

Im that guy that will buy a specific tool just to work on a specific bass. For the Epiphons i have a socket driven 8" long metric allen set.
Then i can reach in without touching the strings as @ubernator spoke of
Do you know what size the Epi truss rod nut is? I'm guessing 4.5mm because that is a size not included in the metric set I bought... and the others don't fit.

Selling the Italia Maranello Z, in absolutely immaculate condition. Sorry lads, it has an LP body shape and no tort.
