Thunderbird Club

I love watching those things start up, prop planes, I took an old DC something or other once years ago from Boston to Cape Cod, it was the coolest thing for me just to sit in that plane while they started up the two props. I love the sound, that's real bass.

This starts at about 4:20

This one also starts about at the four minute mark.

All this WWII plane talk is cool. A few years ago…
Standing with one of the deadliest fighters in the European theater - Supermarine Spitfire...

And just before boarding FiFi for a 30 minute flight.

Would love to get up in the air in a Mustang, Hellcat, Thunderbolt, Lightening or Spitfire, but two seater variants of those are few if any.

I guess you'll just have to learn how to fly one yourself!

I’m afraid if I did, it would be the last thing I’d do, literally, as in crash and burn. But what a way to go.:thumbsup:
Unfortunately, it would take one of the precious few operating flyers out of commission, wouldn’t want to do that, so I’d have to pass. :(

There are a couple 2 seater Mustangs. One comes to the Livermore air show. Expensive ride.

Maybe there's a connection with this song.

pre-Climax - my art-school roommate (and still a close friend who lives on the Peninsula) had these LP's - got played a lot - especially the "Plays On" LP.

Almond Brothers-esque ... w/a sax

What was it like going up in Fifi?

The government had a military air show here a year or two ago, people gathered at the park overlooking the sea. They would fly in and turn around over us and then fly low and take off REALLY fast what seemed almost straight up in the air. Some of those fighter jets came so close the exhaust blew everything around, I actually got a little nervous a few times. I think the jets were Russian, not sure though. But it was a cool show, I think they can get away with things out here you can't do in the States.

When I lived in Chicago, the annual Air Show was staged right along Lakeshore Dr focused at the city. The jets huge roar would bounce off the high-rises and create a giant deep 'boing'. I lived in Lakeview on the near north-side and the jets would turn around over our neighborhood.
