Thunderbird Club

Sea-Tac about 3 years ago….a 29 (Fifi) was parked at Boeing field but can’t find the photo (pretty sure I took one)…

That's the '17 Frank rode on........ I do recall seeing FiFi a Boeing field and flying around Seattle a couple times. There's one on display at The Museum of Flight as well........Just another reason there should be a GTG is Seattle sometime, the Queen would love to lead a tour group through that place!

What was it like going up in Fifi?
Fantastic! I was in the Bombardier seat so I got a panoramic view of everything around me. The only down side with that seat (besides cost) was that you’re not allowed to get up and move around the rest of the plane during the flight, the other seats can do that (maybe not the tail gunner either since you can’t enter the tunnel, that connects the front of the plane to the back, while flying). It wasn’t as loud as I thought it was going to be. We were given ear plugs but I took mine out before take off (figured if playing a bass hasn’t blown my ear drums this probably wouldn’t either). It was something that I’d only need to do once, but wanted to do before they mothball all the flying B29s. If there had been a 2 seat P51 Mustang available I’d have taken it instead, that’s still on my bucket list.

one of my highlights is seeing both, Bockscar (Akron) and Enola Gay (Dulles)…:hyper:

I don't have claustrophobia but no way would I have been a tail gunner in one of those things, that (for me anyway) takes extra huevos.

I recorded the bass track in my basement last weekend. My BL just sent us a rough draft. We did live bass & drums a few weeks ago in his basement. Drums and bass were miked, but lots of bleed (we're all in the same room). He went and overdubbed guitars and vocals. I redid my bass on my Epi T-bird (originally I did it on my L1k).

For some reason, he panned the bass to the right channel, but I don't hate it. The pick attack is super clicky and up front. My timing isn't great either (no click) and I have a tendency to push. Since we recorded live in the same room, if you listen closely, you may hear bass ghosts in the drum tracks. Or you may not. Also, I am no whiz in Pro Tools and there was definitely cutting n pasting of several tracks to get it done.

Our goal is a quick rough demo EP, with actual studio time in the new year.

Please enjoy The Loud Silence (I just learned of this song name today when I opened the file. It's been called Shaman for months).

I think it sounds great. No disclaimers necessary.

I think it sounds great, I like the guitar sound too.

I'm more claustrophobic these days.
But i'd sit in that tail for a ride.

I've always been claustrophobic - especially in a dense crowd... I feel trapped. Even watching YouTube vids of huge concerts with thousands of people pressed together - gives me the willies.
