Thunderbird Club

Also what makes me think of it is seeing the individual string model numbers, which are the same. I'm not sure what these signature sets are supposed to give you since they offer the same gauge sets in the regular Power Wound series. Same for the Eric Bass set and Power Steel.

For the dubious "prestige" of using the string set of a famous musician? Which in most cases it's a regular set of string branded under the name of the artist to charge more money for the strings which in my opinion is a total scam.

How did you like the gin? My wife is dying to know if you approve.

I have been begging to do prime rib for Thanksgiving the last couple of years. Problem is we have several older family members that are too tied to the traditional meal. Not to mention that prime is so expensive now that its not realistic with this size family.
My mother has done a few times a big chicken instead of Turkey, mind you we don't celebrate Thanksgiving, just the days 24th, 25th and 31st of December. 31st is the heaviest day which usually means my mother, my older sister and I have to cook. Considering my father, and middle sister can't cook, and my mountain of a brother-in-law is a bit too big for the kitchen...

Can’t say I’ve ever heard of that band. But I think I’m in love…. With the drummer! He’s a beast on that throne!
I’ve always been drawn to female lead vocal on hard rock. Jumping down the rabbit hole with ya brother.:D
Time we’ll spent! They’ve been around about 10 years or so now. They’re big in Britain and have been in my rotation regularly since about ‘17.

Please do! Science and all.
So, you are not so subtlety suggesting I should just take one for the team? :D

At one point the lit said they were his custom gauges. They are the same/normal gauges as other sets. At one point there was something about the emphasis on the mids that seemed to be different. However, all that I read months ago I can no longer find. Literally ever description I read from SIT to the very few sellers was different. Other than the DE name, you wouldn't know you they were talking about the same string. This is why I'm confused. I'm not convinced SIT isn't as well! But I think you're on to something about them just being PWs-- though that seems a shallow marketing ploy to just add a player's name to an existing string.

Thanks for the tip on that Gin, Andy! It has a noticible bouquet and made a very good Negroni, I we'll make some Gibsons on Saturday after work.....

Hej
I was looking for a Epiphone thunderbird, and I came across 2 of them for same price, but they looks abit different.

1) First one has a serial that starts with 09 and assembled in Chine, and looks actually looks a bit redder than the photos of Epiphone thunderbird you find on shops. Based on research it looks like it was manifactured in 2009.

2) Second one does not have a serial number, on back but the color is more usual wood colour

Can someone with knowledge tell me what the difference is between the 2 other? Has the production improved/worsened since than etc?

Thanks

I'm not sure about the first, but this is a Epi Pro and may be the second you mentioned. I have no experience Epiphones other than the Vintage Pro/60s Thunderbird's made in Indonesia. These are fantastic.

Were both basses bolt-on necks or were they neck through?

Here's a way to actually find zen in a traffic jam. Yeah, traffic jams are NEVER fun, but I was listing to THIS album.
King-Crimson-2.jpg

I've been on a King Crimson bender lately, although I have to admit that it took me a while before I understood their music. Or, as a former classmate said, “They sound cacophonous, like they're jamming and everybody is playing a different song.” (She said that in reaction to the song “Indiscipline” after I told her that it's a song about a painter making a painting.)

Yeah, King Crimson is an acquired taste for sure. And after immersing myself into the Fripp-Belew line up of the band, I figured I should go back to that first album, as I wasn't really aware of their earlier music. As you might know, that album starts with "20'Th century schizoid man" Which is as bombastic as Prog rock can get.

And certainly when in a traffic jam, that song can be... MUCH.

But directly after that song came THIS and I felt so at peace

A photo of each would help a lot. The 2009 made in China sounds about right, colors did change a bit. The other bass could be a Tbird Pro if it’s neck through. If it has a bolt on neck the serial number and country of origin might be on the neck plate.

I don’t have any ownership experience with the Tbird Pro model but from postings in this club it seams many aren’t fond of the active preamp it has.

Yep, Just look at Bonham and Hendrix :rollno:
Yep. Had a classmate in high school that went out drinking with his buddies and got completely wasted. They didn’t want to deal with his parents so they just dropped him off at his house and took off. Apparently he didn’t make it to the front door, and passed out in the lawn, face up. Ended up choking to death on his own vomit some time after that. Parents found him in the front yard a few hours too late. A tragedy all the way around. :rollno:

The Schizoid man enters the 21st century

Ahhh, becoming one with nature, usually precedes becoming one with the ceramic throne. :D
Seriously, somebody that wasted shouldn’t be left laying on their back.
LOL. Indeed it does. The only time I had to drive the porcelain bus was from drinking some Mogan David (don't judge, I was in HS). Must have been the "wine" of choice for satan.
Serious drinking should be left to the professionals. If you pass out or puke, you aren't a professional. ;)
