Thunderbird Club

Tequila was actually my favorite liquor. I liked those, also shots with lemon and salt, but gin? Nope, it was like reverse Pavlov's dog from that one time .
When I was 14 my parents brought me to an engagement party for the son of their best friends. I drank a whole bottle of gin in one sitting ( I was a big fella). When I finally got off the bar stool to pee I simultaneously projectile vomited and passed out. A lady stuck out her foot to prevent my head from slamming the floor , bless her. The next thing I remember is standing at the back door of the car with my dad and him asking me if I can make it into the back seat. I said sure. He let go and I crumbled to the pavement. The next day I was bummed out. Not for embarrassing my parents but because when I passed out somebody pinched my pipe and hashish !!

ooooooh………:hyper:

How did you like the gin? My wife is dying to know if you approve.

I have been begging to do prime rib for Thanksgiving the last couple of years. Problem is we have several older family members that are too tied to the traditional meal. Not to mention that prime is so expensive now that its not realistic with this size family.

Sharon has taken to just buying meats at nearby BBQ joints we love, and making the sides and deserts. Whether turkey is one of the meats varies from year to year. This year she got our son turkey and brisket from one place and got us brisket, pulled pork, and ribs from another. She really enjoys pulling the big meals together, so I just say, “Tell me how I can help” and let her run it. I’d be happy to do any of it, but most years I just eat and help clean up.

I've loved tubes since I found an antique console radio in the attic at my parents house when I was really young.

I have one of these in a storage space in Mass

RCA 816K 16 tubes, including two metal 6L6's, 25 watts output with a 12" electromagnetic speaker, it sounds like an old fashioned juke box and has a rudimentary bass reflex system except it's not tuned, it has a separate bass boost section in the preamp. Made in 1937, I bought it restored.

Which bands does it receive ? Or just AM ? Lovely functional furniture.

It receives all the shortwave bands as well as the normal medium wave band. When I was a kid I got 80 different countries on shortwave and as far as Salt Lake City on the broadcast band (that everyone calls the AM band) on a different RCA console like this one, . These radios were the entertainment centers of their time and very sensitive and sound really good. There was no FM at that time.

Just as I thought. Too effing cool. It's great that people have preserved some.
