Thunderbird Club

Thursday................I think the neighbors will enjoy hearing this bass
Possibly not as much as I do.

I have killed for less. That is a setlist from the deepest pits of hell. Add Wagon Wheel and it will be complete.
Yeah. We do that one. Crowd likes-and requests it.
Addendum: As previously stated, our "normal"(?) crowd is 55+y/o. A lotta the songs many of you play don't interest our audience. They wanna hear the [stuff]they listened to in their younger dating, dancing, and school
days. Saves us having to learn the latest 'flash in the pan' POS. Although we did get 1(one!)request for some Ed Sheeran. Nope.

We have at least one owner here as I recall and at least one other on the FB Thunderbird group, they are actually pretty well regarded from what I've read. The neck is likely similar to the 2021 Non Reverse and the long gone Studio models, heftier than the "Standard" Gibson Reverse but certainly not a Log. :) FWIW I think more modern pickups sound pretty good in a set neck bass like these.

Indeed, not the log I had on an Epi Explorer a couple of years ago.

I’ll be back home in a few days, then I’ll take a couple of pics. Hopefully by then I’ll have my other Tbird back from the luthier and the new white pick guard to replace the skull on the Simmons.
I think that one and the Rex Brown bird both look really nice. Haven’t played or heard either one though.
Is the Simmons the one you were changing the pickups on?

no the Simmons one is fine as is!

the 2000 model was sold to me with the faulty/noisy ceramic pickups from that era. It’s the vintage sunburst one:

The pickups will be gold but I had to order rings as well to hide the gaps since the Lollars are slightly smaller. Lollar sent my tech the only rings they had, which are nickel. My tech has all the pieces and it may look weird until I get the gold rings from another vendor to go along with the pickups. Right now I just want the bass back.
