Can you tell what year it is from the first two numbers of the serial? The knobs also look different than the VPs I’ve been looking into…

I switched to them when I started getting dead Roto E's, they were the closest I could find to them. They've long since fixed the problem.

That is really nice color. I always drool over it.
I still can't hang with Rotos.
Always loved the tone, not the feel.
As for rounds these days, Dunlop SS SuperBrights are working quite well on the Lollar loaded Bird.

I'm sure V will chime in on that bass, but having played it myself, i can tell you it's more than a beast.
What about the differences between Rotos 77 flats, ghs, and other flatwound strings?

I wanna be like you when I grow up
It's a '76 - Bought it from Mike Lull. He took it as payment for work he had done for someone, knowing that I was on the hunt for Birds he had his his office manager call me and let me know about it. At the time it was a very knackered natural finish, it played great and has a good, balanced set of pickups in it. I wanted a better looking bass for the stage, my band was pretty busy at that point and I wanted a Bird that had some flash to it and that folks would remember, so I had Mike get it refinished and put back together. As I recall I paid about 1K for the Bird and about that much more for the refin.
It's a lovely Bird, has this enormous sound, it clanks ( I LOVE clank!) and can produce some serious Sub as well. 76s have a nice slender neck, perfect for those of us with smallish hands.
I'm channeling Jessica Rabbit........

I tried every serial number finder, it's 2013 but none of them gave me a model.
That's painful to look at...

I do admit I have no idea who Pau Villarreal is though.

Mike Lull helped me throughout the years with some pre wired harness upgrades for my strats. Sorry to learn from his sons this year when I reached out again that he had passed. Wish I had known about bass and his Tbirds back then!

Mike was just nicest, most genuine guy, I truly miss him.
