Mike was just nicest, most genuine guy, I truly miss him.
The Thunderbird he made for me, it's the first production bass and the first II.

Another beautiful bass.
When I met him I didn’t know he was so well known and revered; he certainly didn’t act like it—just absolutely caring, informative and kind. Hard to find people like that around any corner these days.
Edit: his sons are just as helpful and keeping the business alive. I’ll be reaching out to them whenever I can give them my business.

I do admit I have no idea who Pau Villarreal is though.
You need to go down "the Warning" rabbit hole on youtube. Three young women who can shred, who started when they were kids (and shredded then).
Most of my ground wounds have been from coming off a bike at more than a few MPH, although a couple have come from running. None have involved Thunderbirds.
Not that lucky
My wife did so we went to visit. Beautiful city!!! The Attic at The Salish Lodge was a highlight for food and ambiance. I was finally able to visit the Mariners stadium and my awesome wife gifted me a Ken Griffey Jr jersey and Mariners apparel that we couldn’t afford when I was a child.

It's a '76 - Bought it from Mike Lull. He took it as payment for work he had done for someone, knowing that I was on the hunt for Birds he had his his office manager call me and let me know about it. At the time it was a very knackered natural finish, it played great and has a good, balanced set of pickups in it. I wanted a better looking bass for the stage, my band was pretty busy at that point and I wanted a Bird that had some flash to it and that folks would remember, so I had Mike get it refinished and put back together. As I recall I paid about 1K for the Bird and about that much more for the refin.
It's a lovely Bird, has this enormous sound, it clanks ( I LOVE clank!) and can produce some serious Sub as well. 76s have a nice slender neck, perfect for those of us with smallish hands.

Was the original bridge a three point or a Tune-o-matic style with tailpiece?

Seattle can be a beautiful city - Summertime helps, today it's living up to the 50 shades of gray reputation! The Mariners finally put a season together this year, was kind of nice.
Prolly not a great idea to say "bits and pieces" when talking about Thunderbirds.

It was 72 when I left for my lunchtime ride, and allegedly ready to start cooling off. When I got home an hour and a quarter later, it was 75. But the cooling trend starts this evening and we should have some sub-freezing temps by the weekend. My Thunderbirds have made it clear they plan to stay in their nest this weekend.
It had the 3 point bridge.
I was wondering how you got a Hipshot Supertone to replace a VP bridge/tailpiece so cleanly! That started life as a Classic Pro. But, I'm wondering about the pickups. Does it tend toward authoritative low end or angry piano?
