Who's the one with the horns and the sharp-looking mouth?
I think the philosophy must be something like: "Wow! We hit a home run! No point doing that again. Let's change stuff...."Gibson's track record of poor life choices?
Welcome to the club.
Gibson never explains things, they just do random stuff. I wanted a white VP but someone here made me a deal to good to pass up on a burst.
If someone nearby offered to trade a similar condition (excellent) white VP for my burst VP, I'd do it in a heartbeat. While the burst is gorgeous, the white just calls to me. (I'd consider a Greco trade the same way.) Red would be great, too, but they never made a red VP, AFAIK.

Were they low impedance? They have an advantage in the studio.
Absolutely a pro level finishing job there! There is at least one red Vintage Pro out there.
Sadly for some it used to be white.
I love it in Dakota Red.

Your attention to detail especially in the leveling and polishing phase really paid off. Not an easy task on the body with the inside corners on the raised center block and along the neck where it meets the body. Easy to sand thru the finish on those corners. Again, looks beautiful and a great color selection as well. So can we send our bodies to you for finish work now? I have a Reverse bolt on I’m thinking about having done in Butterscotch Blonde. On the rotisserie.
Neck through guitars are a little bit of trouble to paint. But worth the effort.

The Droc is nothing to sneeze at!Unless someone tells me otherwise, I've been told by someone who owns a Greco Thunderbird, 80s vintage that the fretboard radius is 12, so I guess the Droc will be the only Thunderbird shape in my harem. Oh well, at least I can stop looking, a shame really as I really wanted another...
Thanks! Guessing you mean 893 (according to the list) I'll be back later when I've taken the bass for a spin or two.Welcome Haans,
Love the beautiful Red Non Reverse, stunning! Please be welcome here and feel free to ask questions and jump into the conversation at any point, we'd love to know what you think of your new GibsonYou're number 983 here!
pretty badazz…I wish we could have seen you play while we were visiting - that said it won't be our last trip down that way!
I would be most honored to have you attend a show, we are rehearsing pretty hard and things are looking great for 2023!
Huzzah! My reverses are comfy when sitting as well, especially the CP and VP. The IV and Greco aren’t quite as nice, lacking belly cuts, etc. But the overall shape still works great.I was noodling a bit on my new NR this evening, getting acquainted, and it struck me how comfortable it is. It just sits so well and easily shifts back when I need to reach the first frets. It's a longer reach than other basses, but it doesn't stay glued in one position like my P. Picking Carol Kaye style let's me rest my arm comfortably on the upper part of the body, and access to the higher frets is great. I haven't weighed it, i never do, but it feels quite light compared to the P. Maybe it's because it moves so freely. And the high gloss painted neck doesn't feel sticky at all, even though I tend to prefer satin necks. Still in the honeymoon phase, I suppose, but this looks like a lasting relationship.
Funny thing about my RNR being upside down from the original intent, there's no belly cut and I love it. Feeling the whole flat back of the body against myself makes it feel more stable than the Reverse. But I never play sitting down.Huzzah!
