Thunderbird Club

I'm a bit old-fashionned, I'm afraid.... I'm trying to keep up and Lord knows my kids are helpful, but stuff like Boss, Chief, Captain... I can't help being turned off. On the other hand, Man, Dude, Bro, I'm OK.

The ultimate thrill is when I'm approached by someone going Hi, welcome to our store, I'm Andrea, how can I help you ? Wether I'm purchasing or not, I'll most likely congratulate or thank the person on the way he/she approached me. Last person I did that to replied something like my mum always said the proper way to get to know someone is to introduce yourself, so I do that. That's not the way they coach us here, but I do it anyway. She could not have been more than 25.

Now I'll go and find someone to scream at to get off my lawn...
Last time I was at a GC, the 'greeting' I got was "next?".

This track has a great overdriven bass sound. Players aren't too shabby either. Those damn Swedes again:

I'm getting the MojoMojo pedal today. There will be clips I promise.

One thing I don't like about drive pedals that have a blend is that the clean sound is sometimes too separate sounding. I mean when I have the overdrive on my playing touch is different (mostly more aggressive) and that doesn't necessarily work with the clean sound audible. Depends on a pedal of course.

Some of you have me curious about a touch of breakup (not fuzz). I really like the sound of the EBS Valve Drive as it's very natural sounding. Found a used one for around $250. But I've got almost $100 at Sweetwater from selling a phaser I didn't need that I'd like to get rid of.
Among a few reasonably priced pedals, this on the overdrive setting doesn't seem too bad. I guess I'm thinking of warm and creamy not raspy or harsh in any way. In fact, I don't think I really want it very noticeable. There and filling in some spaces, but definitely not in your face.

Those are really fun. If you check it out, don't forget about its internal trim pots.

Maybe once all the white stuff disappears.
The 2 nearest GCs are like that, unfortunately.

It's a shame tho. And a lot of places are like that.
Maybe with another generation coming into the workplace, we'll see different (and hopefully better) things happening in that respect.
Let's have faith for 2023 !

But if Mike gets called Man, Dude, or Bro at the border crossing, he might turn right back around satisfied, and never even make it to L&M.

Fair point.
Haven't crossed the border in awhile, but last time I did, that wasn't part of their vocabulary.
Maybe the next generation :)

I haven't crossed the border since '81. Coming into Canada at Windsor, the Customs lady was professional but nice; coming back into the States at Buffalo, the Customs guy was an a-hole.

I love Hondo Felder's reviews, and he did one with this pedal. I really like his Serek Lincoln bass he uses as well. Reminiscent of the Ripper.

Refreshing. Hopefully her parents were very fertile and had many offspring!

For some reason when someone (young whippersnapper) uses that I can't help but think there's a slight bit of condescension present. Like, "I'm trying to complement you by giving you a fancier tag than you might otherwise deserve, but we all know who the cool cat is here." Most no doubt use it because they heard others use it and they want to sound hip and different.

Great song and playing!

This is kind of along the lines of what I'm thinking. I think. It's there, but only if you listen closely and isn't trying to sound like a really lowend distorted guitar.
