I'm getting the MojoMojo pedal today. There will be clips I promise.

Got the pedal. Good news first. The low end is not lost and there's more to boost if needed. There's also plenty of gain available and it's easy to get a Felix Pappalardi tubby fart sound.

Bad news: the overdrive sound is in the fart department even when in the lowest position. With the treble boosted it's just gets harsher. The John Wetton Hiwatt crunch isn't there even if the bass is cut. Wet/dry blend wouldn't help either.

So the Monkey wins again with it's upper midrange drive and smoother sound. It will be interesting to see how the Spark Booster compares, I think it should be more clearer.

The MojoMojo stacks quite well with the Monkey 'though but not sure if it's better or worse than the Hammertone Distortion in that mode.

Thankfully it was cheap and easy to get rif of if needed. Might work with a guitar 'though, will check that tomorrow.

Sorry to hear that. That tubey farty sound is an immediate NO for me.

That was exactly my experience last time we crossed at Niagara Falls maybe four years ago. Point: Canada.

Only about 1/4 - 1/3 of the various US border-related officials I’ve dealt with have acted that way, but I can’t recall a single interaction with another country’s border officials that wasn’t professional. Most were courteous, occasionally friendly, as well.

One of the things I noticed right off with the hot Greco pickups is how easy it is to get Felix’s sound, which I love.

On the other hand, the extra large Russian women customs officials are really scary. Just don't make eye contact.

Total harmonic distortion. It’s a way of measuring harmonics as distortion to the base signal.

Oh, I get it now. I wasn't questioning that at all but how does the distorted signal come out and how does it sound. The DI itself doesn't mean it will sound automatically bad but if there's no EQ or cabinet simulation before or after it the sound will be quite harsh and unpleasant through a full range cabinet compared to how it will sound through a bass or a guitar cab.

yep….tubes trying to live with PCBs….imagine my surprise…….:rollno:
thx for sharing…:)
Yeah, just with the merest understanding of types of materials and their use for applications that imply a little ruggedness, connecting a tube socket or other large-ish hardware to a pcb trace sounds a little hack... But hey. Hot glue guns! :woot:

This amp is beginning to get actually dialed in, finally, and I'm really liking the sound I'm getting. That's why it's still here. Otherwise it's teetering on burdensome.

Can I just say what a delight you guys and gals are?

Coming from years on TGP and Gearspace, Talkbass seems like a breath of fresh COVID-free air. You guys give me hope for humanity—maybe bassists should’ve been running the world all along.

I’m sure I’ll post again before the New Year but just incase, my best wishes, gratitude and ‘Happy Birthdays’ to all of you!

It's good to have you here mang, the good buzz is awesome. And I'll have to agree, this is one of the best places to keep company I know. Nice you're part of it.

right, and my point being, does it matter if you’re gonna post process the signal anyways? one of my favorite studio techniques is to play back recorded program (bass track in this case) from a cab (or cab combos) onto a condenser type mic in a sound booth to add a little “air”….easier to process and mess with effects this way….again, ymmv…

Sorry to ask as I'm sure this has been asked a lot before but I can't quickly find it:

What case is there that fits the oversized Epiphone Tbird Vintage Pro IV? It measures 51" and the interior length of the Epi and gibson cases don't exceed 50.5"

Thanks!
I can fit one in the cases for a 1991 and a 2001 Gibson. Oddly enough, the case for the 2015 is the exact same size externally, but a VP doesn't fit in it. There's no room at the end of the headstock in those Gibson cases, but it fits.
