Thunderbird Club

It probably isn't a world class neck-diver. Let go of an old one and the headstock will head toward the floor...and keep going till it hits you on the right side of the head. That's the only thing I don't like about it. The rounded body isn't as comfortable as a Thunderbird or something with a forearm taper. The neck is just as perfect as an old Thunderbird.

I like the looks of the original ones though, I'll take the neck dive without the big horn. That was one thing that gave me pause before I bought it. The new ones have a substantial neck.

Ok. Installed the 50-105 EBCFs. Feels, sounds like I want it to.:bassist::hyper: Still tweaking* the knobs; actually using more bridge pup than I thought I would. Not a lot, but I can definitely get 'clank' if I wanna. I'm not gonna bother with another pic since ya wouldn't be able to see the purple silks-which is where the tone is.;)

Excellent news. How do you like the feel of it? Neck, etc.

Definitely a bit different from the 67(or anything else I have), but not uncomfortable. Might eventually put another strap button on the neck heel. Or not. Happen to have a couple laying around. Somewhere.

GC's are actual stores where you can look at [stuff], play it, and decide if you wanna buy.
my most recent GC purchase….

Could someone please tell me if a gigbag for a Greco mirage would fit a T-Bird? Shape seems similar...
Link: check bost

No clue if it would fit or not. If the Greco gig bag is anything like the one that came with my Greco Bird, there is very little padding in it. You can sort of see the shape in this pic:

Kinda looks similar, how much padding do you think it has? I have an epiphone one that feels like it's been made out of tissue paper, so...

The GC in Seattle is pretty hands off. They are paying attention, they just aren't underfoot all the time. The store also doesn't suffer from max volume Smoke on the Water all the time, so there's that bonus, too.
Currently reading the Brian Johnson book I got at Christmas.
He goes in and meets the guys and they ask him to pick a song to start on. He says “Nutbush”. Malcolm says “good you’ve passed the first test”, “what’s that?”
“You didn’t pick Smoke on the Water”

That’s great news Mike. Enjoy!

Yes, that's the one :).
I remember you being very patient in letting me try it, I was also trying out a real Ric. Ended up picking the Logical, mostly because the neck felt better to me and it wasn't going to be a main player anyway. I loved that bass, kept it for about a year and ended up flipping it for God knows what. I live in the Lower Laurentians, so downtown is a bit of a ways out, but who knows, I might drop in, I still get the Steve's newsletter.

Nice! I still have mine, i modified a lot about it to date: electronics (kept the original pickups they sound killer to me), replaced the bridge (still has the original tailpiece, but replaced the bridge portion with a bent plate 7ender style - which feels natural to me). Now i can intonate properly, set the string height of each string individually, & when i rest my palm it feels like my other basses.

Resting palm?
