Thunderbird Club

Curious to know; I've only played a handful of thunderbirds in my life; my dad's blackbird, some epi bolt ons (burst, goth, blackbird), the active pros, the classic pros. I'd wanna know out of the gibson range/years, which bird is the most "aggressive" sounding.

Having never played any old school ones, i've no clue if 60's or 70's birds, or 80's birds would be in terms aggressive. Mind you, they all sound like angry pianos, lets get that out :D But between a 60's parallel wired Bird IV vs a 70's series wired bird IV, vs the post 87-88 parallel bird IVs - how would anyone go by classifying & explaining each era of bird's tone.

My experience is limited in terms of actual Gibsons, but the original run is the most aggressive I've heard. But you referenced some Epis, too. The VP (nee 60s Thunderbird) is very aggressive. If anything, the Greco is more aggressive than either of the above. But that original Gibson plays like a dream. Everything but the removable headstock is perfect. Why Gibson can't and won't simply reproduce that is beyond me. Epi, too, but they came close with the VP.

(I haven't (AFAIK) heard or played the new Gibson NR, the Nikki model, or the latest signature models).

My thing is, i don't know how you guys can play rounds. :roflmao:

That's when princess alien says no.:laugh::laugh:
