Hey thundermates!
I'm just passing thru to share my new single, which, of course, was recorded with my Thunderbird pickups as usual.

When I get the replacement, I'se gots to check that all o' the screws are tight. Shoulda done that with this one. Didn't think a new one needed a post set-up set-up.They sounded great on the Embassy(also Buckers)'til the claw let go.
I gots a set o' those on my EB-0. A little too deep talkin'.I put some La Bella DTB on my NR last week, sounds good, not sure if I'll keep them on, but nice and smooth and very articulate with a pick.

Hmm. Funny lookin' TBirds.
Just had a late-night, booze-induced thought: I'll have a pair of Mooneyes tattooed on each knee 'cos they ain't worth a damn either.Since the Epi Embassy turned out to be a "Mooneye"*, I'm gonna be stuck playing that horrible old 67NR tonight(Saturday). It'll be a struggle, but I think I can muddle through.
(There may be some sarcasm attached to this^ statement.)
*To clarify "Mooneye", my friends and I saw a real POS-mobile going down the road. Barely. It had a pair of those "Moon" eyes on the fender-the only thing decent on the entire car. Thus, anything afterwards that was NFG became a "Mooneye".

I don’t normally go for brighter sounding strings, but the new NR is such an inherently dark bass it needs a bright string to make it sing. I’d think the DTB strings would be very dark on the NR, but then again I’m only playing with fingers, a pick might brighten it up nicely.I put some La Bella DTB on my NR last week, sounds good, not sure if I'll keep them on, but nice and smooth and very articulate with a pick.

LOL - Hadn’t noticed.Just wondering if y'all were aware: this club posts a lot. LOL!
I recall when he had it refinished. Absolutely love it!View attachment 4926587 View attachment 4926589 Hey fellow Thunderbird friends, I put this up for sale and I thought it would only make sense to make this club aware. I bought it from flyingpigsound(TB member) a little over a year ago. It's beautiful and is a winner in terms of weight, tone, playability! PM me if interested.

Yeah. We've had all these discussions on tone woods, but what about tone plastics?![]()

My Bond Girl bass started out w/GHS Precision Flats, then LaBella DTF's, but for a while now D'Addario EXLBT nickel rounds. Eventually I may return it to DTF's - such a great tone.Sure miss PillO.If all of you have your fingers fall off--remember PillO and I warned you.
They do sound great, though.
Frankly, they can all get aggressive with stainless steel strings and eq tweaking. That’s why I love them. But the original early 60s Tbirds are the most aggressive to my ears.Curious to know; I've only played a handful of thunderbirds in my life; my dad's blackbird, some epi bolt ons (burst, goth, blackbird), the active pros, the classic pros. I'd wanna know out of the gibson range/years, which bird is the most "aggressive" sounding.
Having never played any old school ones, i've no clue if 60's or 70's birds, or 80's birds would be in terms aggressive. Mind you, they all sound like angry pianos, lets get that outBut between a 60's parallel wired Bird IV vs a 70's series wired bird IV, vs the post 87-88 parallel bird IVs - how would anyone go by classifying & explaining each era of bird's tone.
DittoSure miss PillO.
I think Chris Squire had something to do with that choice for the bridge.stock bridge….like a mix of everything to get all angles covered sorta thing…
+1Sure miss PillO.
