They sound great on my Custom Kraft hollow-body played w/a pick. But then, pretty much all flats sound good played with a pick & palm-muting to my ears. My Bond Girl bass started out w/GHS Precision Flats, then LaBella DTF's, but for a while now D'Addario EXLBT nickel rounds. Eventually I may return it to DTF's - such a great tone.

once read some comments from you about those tuners, been awhile…what’s the deal with them? they are called something like lollipop right? are those stock 7ender? if so how long and when were they used on Js? any on P’s? seem to recall a P with those many many years ago….gorgeous bass btw..

I think Chris Squire had something to do with that choice for the bridge.

I don't think so as Squire only bought the bass and started to use it circa 1980.

I don’t normally go for brighter sounding strings, but the new NR is such an inherently dark bass it needs a bright string to make it sing. I’d think the DTB strings would be very dark on the NR, but then again I’m only playing with fingers, a pick might brighten it up nicely.

I tried a set on the NR early on and was surprised how good it sounded. Not perfect, but I could live with it.

Yep. No doubt about it. I and I know one other person PMed maybe two months ago but never heard anything back. At one point he mentioned casually thinking of relocating to another part of the globe. Just hope all is well.

I was going to say Chain Saw (if you have used one before) will quickly do the trick. But Weather works too at times.

I’ve actually become pretty good with the chainsaw. But the Forest Service gets a little picky about stuff like that. Now that they’re down, we’ll see what’s harvestable this spring. Although I’m not a big fan of burning pine.

I really need to figure out a way to pick up pick playing. So far I haven’t found a way to comfortably hold a pick for more than a few minutes before it starts messing with the arthritis in my hand. Maybe a slip on finger tip type pick would work.

I tried a thumb pick. You can leave it on while playing fingerstyle and it's right there when you need/want it. Prolly would work pretty well, but even a 'large' was too tight on my fat little thumb.

It was the bass player/manager at the local music store who uses them and suggested them as a possible solution. He’s a really good player.
