Don’t think of pine as being a good tone-wood either. But maybe I can get George to try it.
Oddly enough my Fender George Benson Hotrod Deluxe claims the solid pine cabinet improves tonality and is lighter ( but not light , only feels like it's 170 lbs ). Besides the cabinet what makes it a GB model ? A 12AT7 In the V1 position of the preamp for more headroom and a 100 watt 12" Jensen speaker which sings beautifully. I have hence opined on using pine. Does anybody have any experience with Jensen speakers in a Bass Cab ?

Not since the days of my long gone Bassman 50 and 2x12 cab (with a bad speaker in it at that).

I really need to figure out a way to pick up pick playing. So far I haven’t found a way to comfortably hold a pick for more than a few minutes before it starts messing with the arthritis in my hand. Maybe a slip on finger tip type pick would work.
Banjo picks on all four fingers and your thumb!

I’ve actually become pretty good with the chainsaw. But the Forest Service gets a little picky about stuff like that. Now that they’re down, we’ll see what’s harvestable this spring. Although I’m not a big fan of burning pine.
Hopefully the Forestry Service is a bit more lax in your area, but a friend of mine that has about 1000 acres in Santa Barbara county got a pretty strong warning and threats of hefty fines when he was doing some fallen tree clearing (for fire season). Apparently, in that county you aren’t allowed to fall any dead trees on your property (rural area, not subdivisions) and if they come down on their own you aren’t allowed to clear them. The forestry service has to be contacted first, then they have to determine if the tree should be downed or cleared (takes up to 6 months to get an answer), and they have to be the ones that do it, you get to pay the bill. So much for being concerned about wild fires.

Been there, done that! My best sounding Fender bass is a pine body. It’s heavier than you’d think. It has monstrous lows (Greco territory and then some) ok top end but not bright by any definition. It’s a reggae and dub king. I do have distant plans to duplicate it in a pine thunderbird body but that’s at least a year out from now.
