Oddly enough my Fender George Benson Hotrod Deluxe claims the solid pine cabinet improves tonality and is lighter ( but not light , only feels like it's 170 lbs ). Besides the cabinet what makes it a GB model ? A 12AT7 In the V1 position of the preamp for more headroom and a 100 watt 12" Jensen speaker which sings beautifully. I have hence opined on using pine. Does anybody have any experience with Jensen speakers in a Bass Cab ?Don’t think of pine as being a good tone-wood either. But maybe I can get George to try it.
Hey thundermates!
I'm just passing thru to share my new single, which, of course, was recorded with my Thunderbird pickups as usual.

Not since the days of my long gone Bassman 50 and 2x12 cab (with a bad speaker in it at that).Oddly enough my Fender George Benson Hotrod Deluxe claims the solid pine cabinet improves tonality and is lighter ( but not light , only feels like it's 170 lbs ). I didn’t get that reference. I was referring to Moties.Curious how many people are "liking" my "INSAAAAAAAANE" comment just for the sake of it or how many actually know the Crazy Eddie commercials. I know @JJR58 knows them well.
Really?Just wondering if y'all were aware: this club posts a lot. LOL!

I PMd him yesterday. Nothing yet but he had been “seen” per TB recently.I PM'ed @PillO Sunday night. So far, no reply.
That would be a whole heap of us.That would be at least three of us then.
Banjo picks on all four fingers and your thumb!I really need to figure out a way to pick up pick playing. So far I haven’t found a way to comfortably hold a pick for more than a few minutes before it starts messing with the arthritis in my hand. Maybe a slip on finger tip type pick would work.
Yes! Just checked and he was seen Thursday! That’s an excellent sign. He hasn’t posted since November.I PMd him yesterday. Nothing yet but he had been “seen” per TB recently.
At least your balls are all pointed in the same direction. Finally got EBCFs on the Greco (almost typed Graco). Still gets rowdy but can sound a bit smoother, too. And my fingers are happier. Purple Silks to the rescue!

Hopefully the Forestry Service is a bit more lax in your area, but a friend of mine that has about 1000 acres in Santa Barbara county got a pretty strong warning and threats of hefty fines when he was doing some fallen tree clearing (for fire season). Apparently, in that county you aren’t allowed to fall any dead trees on your property (rural area, not subdivisions) and if they come down on their own you aren’t allowed to clear them. The forestry service has to be contacted first, then they have to determine if the tree should be downed or cleared (takes up to 6 months to get an answer), and they have to be the ones that do it, you get to pay the bill. So much for being concerned about wild fires.I’ve actually become pretty good with the chainsaw. But the Forest Service gets a little picky about stuff like that. Now that they’re down, we’ll see what’s harvestable this spring. Although I’m not a big fan of burning pine.
Been there, done that! My best sounding Fender bass is a pine body. It’s heavier than you’d think. It has monstrous lows (Greco territory and then some) ok top end but not bright by any definition. It’s a reggae and dub king. I do have distant plans to duplicate it in a pine thunderbird body but that’s at least a year out from now.Don’t think of pine as being a good tone-wood either. But maybe I can get George to try it.
Probably true...that's why the replies are 50 posts after I made that comment. LOL!Nah …
