Thunderbird Club

My Husband Frank in the middle and Marshall on the right, have birthdays today.

Two members of the Bay Area Jug Band! With Marshall on beer bottle and Geo on bass. Tearing it up on a CCR cover of “Down On The Corner” from the Willy and the Poor Boys album. Not shown in this photo are band members Chucky on tubes, Alien JJR as lead singer, and Doo Wop Girl and back up vocals staring Queen Veronica. :roflmao::roflmao::roflmao:

Rumor has it that band member and bass player Stealth was there as well, but no photographic evidence has surfaced to support that rumor, there’s a reason he’s called Stealth!

Little known fact - a large part of the magic in the Bay Area Jug Band’s unique sound is Tube Player Chucky’s insane ability to hot swap out amp tubes mid song offering each of the amped players varying dynamics on their instruments in real time. Of course Marshall chooses to remain completely acoustic to be true to the art form of vintage Jug playing.
love it…..you’re on to something George…

not the first time I see a claw come loose…. makes one wonder (me at least) about the all around mechanical integrity of the beloved two piece….
Or at the very least, the size screws used.
The other less than ideal design “feature” of the Eppi Claw is the very small flat bottom not much wider than the screw hole…

A flat bottom and larger screws like Warwick uses would be a better design…

…for the OCD crowd - note the balls all perfectly in line!

Yes, I liked it too, went back and forth between this and Fireglo, unfortunately at this time it's sitting in my storage space in Mass along with my reverse Thunderbird and several other nice basses, I have a nice cherry '66 EB-2 there too.

This is my 2018 model 4003s, bought online from a store in Germany. Think I paid about 1.500 eur for it in the end of year 2018, purchased new. I first wanted a Fireglo, but finally decided to go with the Mapleglo.

The P, stupidily sold last year, is a 2003 Higway One.

I’m committed to a black one that’s in excellent condition. Just trying to arrange to pick it up! Happy Birthday to me. And I’m excited to be getting it! It’ll be my fourth black Thunderbird. I’m slacking since I only have three blue ones. Maybe Veronica and I need to have a talk…
Happy birthday! Is it today?
