Thunderbird Club

@BklynKen I noticed that Jeff Genzler is in Brooklyn and also an active TB member. Might prove fruitful to contact him about some kind of trial of the 4 On The Floor if interested.
Thanks. I'm mildly curious, but my dirt needs are met with my Damnation Audio MBD. If I find they're good about supporting local musicians, I'll certainly look to check out their stuff. But needs in NYC I think are pretty different than most places due to venues, transportation, etc.

You can't just wade in with a chain saw and fell it?
I get the humor Will. What could go wrong?

I’d rather leave it to a licensed and fully insured pro. You can appreciate that. Right? It would take out our deck, kitchen and the upstairs and downstairs family rooms if I messed up trying to do it. But you all are welcome to come cut slabs for Tbirds or firewood rounds off it once it’s down. So long as you sign a liability release….

Made it from a piece of construction lumber I bought at a local hardware store, the Pickup comes from a Fender Sting Signature bass and the dead strings give it this really cool "OOMPH".

Don't let the "tonewood" people find out about it! :nailbiting:

From what i understand.
JG is a good guy.

When Genz Benz was headquartered in Scottsdale, you would randomly see Jeff Genzler at The Bass Place (when it was in Tempe). Seemed like a very pleasant man. I have owned several pieces of Genz gear over the years and it was always top-notch.

Question for you VP types or others with similar bridges. The action on my VP is reasonable but the bridge is very high on the E side and almost bottomed on the G. I use a small amount of tilt on the 3-point but this seems excessive.

My other question is do you lower the pickups like V does on her vintage bird? The 760s seem real hot.

All basses are unique and will more than likely require specific set-up. (as in, pu height, nut/saddle/neck adjustment) The bottom-line is doing the needed adjustments until it is the way you like.

No, my strings are hitting the pickups when I get excited.

I gotta admit, I need another black Tbird like I need a hole in the head, but the same goes for Tobbaco burst as well. I was considering doing another build later in the year utilizing a Fender butterscotch blonde finish which does allow a hint of grain (which this bass does have a nice pattern of) to peek through and would probably coordinate very nicely with the Wenge neck and chrome bits.

The TB Club mod seems really cool.

I've found that lowering the pickup does work well for me - keep in mind I play hard and was overloading the front end of my amp, this helped me a lot, you may not need to go to such measures.
