So this Thunderbird talk has me thinking of dipping my toe in the water.

Any opinion on these joints? ...

This showed up in my FB feed, they may be changing the pickups/position on the newest models.

The neck pickup looks like one of the new SG bass pickups, I have no experience with them but I know they sound different than the old Sidewinders and the pole screws don't adjust but people like them. I bought one of those three or four years ago. I like the more balanced look though.

Did you use something as a heat sink? It could be that too, what kind of solder are you using? They have different melting temperatures. Soldering is not as easily acquired skill, it wasn't for me anyway.
Rosen solder. Pressed the braid to the back of the pot. I always question if the pot has some oxide that acts as a barrier.

Thoughts?
I did a continuity test from the back of the pot to well up the braid and it gives a solid signal. I then tested from the exposed wire to the flat part coming off the second lead on the pot. Same result. I measured 9.17 kOhms across the pickup leads.

So, not sure why the output of the pickup is near zero. Clearly, I didn’t vibrate the wires loose.
