Thunderbird Club

playing at the brewery today at 3….. frigging niners play at 3:30…..:banghead:

Not that I'm a Niners fan..........cuz you beat the Seahawks 3 times this year, but dammit a win over Dallas would be nice today.

That's got a nice neck now plus it's ebony, I even had RS66 Rotos on it for a while with virtually no wear. With no frets it feels more shallow front to back than a fretted P bass. The neck on the P bass is nice too but I like J necks better.

I'm $h1t for brains when it comes to playing fretless, but I sho' like looking at'em. The TFs are especially striking, IMO.

Ok, disconnected all the connections and it has a full zero to 550 kOhm. Now time to resolder all the connections and to it right this time.

Any other suggestions before I start?
Try one last quick thing. Hook your meter up to the bridge pup leads and wiggle and bend the wire a bit. Just a quick check to make sure you don’t have a damaged pup lead. The resistance reading should remain unchanged and around 9K.

I’ll give that a shot after I drink one. I checked everything for continuity and resistance. Made sure the soldering was tinned properly and secure. Tested everything again. Still no output…

Time to take a break before things take flight.

And here we go :)

Epi Goth body refin'd white, Aerodyne Jazz neck, Hipshot bridge and XTender (installing later today). Stock Goth pick-ups, came back with a top-notch set-up. Sounds like an e Epi Thunderbird IV (same pickups, I believe) which is fine and very different from the Silver FenderBird, which has EMG actives. Plays beautifully and should see action at next rehearsal. A 1/16" shave on both sides to adjust pocket to neck, depth untouched. Fretboard darkened a bit, body finished with satin polyurthane satin 0°, which protects against daily use. A charm to play !

Beautiful. The pickup covers, at any rate, are the same as those in the IV, so I would assume the same pickups.

When you say “still no output” you mean from the bridge pup only, correct? You do still get a good output signal from the neck pickup, correct? If you’re not getting an output from either pup you probably need to reverse the wires on your output jack.
