I like it! A J with beefy pickups! I bet it sounds good.
Sorry, Non-reverse Precisions.......you mean, those aren't NR Thunderbirds?!

If you decide to do a yank out…That was my thought - if it's not a simple fix, replace.
I'm in it cheap enough I could easily put in an excellent pre-amp, if needed.

Thank you Jeff!
I took it up to Lull's today to have them look at the headstock - it's in fine shape!
I've got a Nordy pre in my Regenerate Heritage '55 Pbass and that bass sounds amazing. How one would work/sound in a J is anybody's guess. If you decide to do a yank out…
Go Aggie for deep rich dark lows
Darkglass for crystal clear highs
Audere for completely uncolored sound
East for customization any way you want it
Haz Clone for bone shattering attack
Excellent news! And you must be feeling better which is also good news.Thank you Jeff!

Some onboard preamps work really really well with humbuckers. I haven’t tried the new Fender Jazz humbuckers yet but if they’re anything like my other Fender humbuckers they should sound fantastic. The ones I mentioned all go great with typical humbuckers. Nordy has a preamp that sings with single coils but I haven’t tried it in a humbucker setting. Audere and East are also great with single coils.I've not a Nordy pre in my Regenerate Heritage '55 Pbass and that bass sounds amazing. How one would work/sound in a J is anybody's guess.
One of them is a good color anyway. So there's that.......you mean, those aren't NR Thunderbirds?!

Funny that. My winter motorcycle has been having battery problems. Turns out it probably has a very tired stator, which is part of what passes for an alternator on a motorcycle. So, I have some driveway wrenching time coming up. Oh, well. I had that whole part of the bike in pieces to change the starter clutch a few months ago and thought about putting in a new stator while it was apart. I didn't. Oh, well.maybe it need a new alternator.
