I started picking up my acoustic guitar a bit again and decided it needs new strings. I’ve used SITs on it for years. I’ll order a couple packs of Powers Steels while I’m at it.SIT had better start giving me some profits from this group.

Speaking of which, do you know if they’re a drop in replacement for the standard Epi IV?Any Bart Tbird replacement pickups I have seen always had the 3 screw hole pattern instead of 2. The holes are more like the pattern on regular Epi soapbar pickups than Gibson, including Bicentennial models. I am not saying they never make/made them with 2 holes, but I have never seen them. Always thought it was odd.
Just buy another Thunderbird. Problem solved.Grrrreeeat. Another string calling. Just not sure where I would put them at the moment.
"a nice porter" as in singular? Need to update that or going to stick with the singular?![]()
Beat me to it. I’m trying to catch up. Finally made it into Thursday posts. Does anyone else around here have to work? The easiest, most obvious (and around these parts, most correct) answer is:
You need to buy another Thunderbird

That pun was painful to read.
What bridge is that on the silver bird? Looks huge...poopy week at work, so it's going to be FenderBird Friday chez Mike. It also FenderBird Friday on good work weeks.

I’m sure Dave is going bonkers looking at that.
Peavey T-40 pickups?Geez...
Thinking about replacing the stock Goth pickups (which sound fine) with something that would bring it closer to the active EMGs on my other FenderBird, while staying passive (don't wanna get into preamp mods for this one). The obivous answer to that would be EMG TBHZs I guess...
Any other suggestions ?
Looking for modern-sounding humbuckers to fit my usual 80s rock covers, as opposed to vintage/old school 60-70s.
I believe My Episuse Alphas.Epiphone doesn’t seem to sell parts. The main thing is to get one with splines to match what’s on your bass. I use WD branded pots because they sell them at Long & Mcquade.
What's the point of that?last night at a gig at The Chaminade……latest craze around here….

Fooling with the 4OTF tonight a little and noticed if you lower the drive, but up the drive vol (no breakup, just clean), you can use the H/LPFs to fully tweak the tone. In other words, you have just a HPF or LPF or both if you want. (Only the drive side is run through the filters. The clean vol is your unaffected signal you can blend in as desired and does not go through the filters.) I can't believe how much I like this pedal.

So the Bartolini is the size of a chrome TBird pickup. That will make it easy to swap in for A/B comparisons

Thanks for helping fill the knowledge canyon! You're not finished yet and have a long way to go.
That's terminally weird. Some Warwick thing, not that different from a claw bridge, it does look huge because of a plastic case that encloses the bridge and bridge pick-up. It's the one thing I like less about the SilverBird, that bridge doesn't intone well. Not crazy about the whole bridge/pickup enclosure either. One day, I'll pull that contraption apart to see if I can replace it with a Hipshot Supertone. But that bass plays so well as it is, I'd hate to mess it up.

Umm...OK.

I offered to keep it and save sending it back if they made me a crazy deal, but they said had Fedmess finished their claim and paid them something he would have taken me up. Headed to the post office today. I admit I kind of liked having it at home to fool with. Might find one super cheap one day.Very cool! Send me the second one?
