Thunderbird Club

Chris P Dekker editor-in-chief of De Bassist magazine just sent me this from the NAMM:

Damn cannot wait, AW & Ebony, but..

The Chinese Epi factory produces excellent value gear. This will replace the Classic Pro so quality should be equivalent in quality and approximate price IMO.

...if it's like this I have to get a 2nd classic before they're out of stock. Oh read the whole ad now..

btw what's a gloss finish? Nitro?

Gloss probably means a highly polished Yuri-thane finish, so named because the guy who sprays it is a Russian national. gibson does nitro, epi, as far as i can determine, has pretty much always done the much tougher but thicker urethane finishes.

Not to derail the NAMM talk (because honestly, that new "old" T-Brid nearly made me forget my question): has anyone put vintage-depth pickups in an Epi Classic? If so:

1. How did you get them close to the strings?
2. How did you hide the fact that they're only about 1/2 the depth of the TB-Plusses?

Tryna get this Chinese set installed. Pics welcome.

I did the opposite. I had the smaller chrome plated ones in the sliver burst and dropped Gibson's in it. Had to get them routed because the Gibson's are larger

I last saw them in Edinburgh, which was slightly surreal.
Loved "Mars Needs Guitars". We used to cover, "Like Wow, Wipeout" back in the day. Although, I didn't see them live until they came to play a club here in DC some 30 years later. They hadn't played together in ages so the harmonies were a bit wobbly. But they were still fun.

Oh, no doubt V.

Problem is, I need to put on my big boy pants and raise the dough.

Trust me, I would be shaking like a little kid with excitement.

This may sound blasphimus, but I'm totally memorized with his PT4. 2 pup version.
Rod:. "Hi honey, look at my 4 k bass. Isn't it nice?

Claudia:"You spent how much!"

Rod, "Uhhh love you."
