Thunderbird Club

Have you got any vinyl records you could sacrifice to make one?

Unfortunately? no.....not sure if I have any vinyl albums left :sorry:

If the one on my Ibanez 5-string will fit, I'll copy it - I might send it off for that though. I was already planning on having one copy of it made when I got the trc copied (2 out of 3 of my Ibanez-es don't have one), so maybe I'll just get two.
But I haven't tried it yet, the opening on the RB800 looks pretty small.......

Indeed I am. "Open My Eyes" should be a bigger classic than it was. "Under The Ice" is another and provided some guitar riffs to Cheap Trick's "I'll Be With You Tonight". Of course Trick and Nazz shared some history.

I like their original version of 'Hello It's Me' much better than Todd's solo version too, trippy! This was played on underground FM a lot. I always liked the bass player Carson Van Osten's Edit: EB-0 sound and lines in that band.

Absolutely.

I need to plan a trip to Finland, hear you play and talk music. We live a world apart. We would be good friends if we lived closer. Such is the way with this club. There are so many of us with the same interests and tastes. It really is amazing.

I have two friends in Oz (Geoff and Kat) who I’m anxious to meet in person. And three in Finland. One or two in the Netherlands. Not to mention Bob, the Expat in Brazil. I’ve met and bonded with Jeff in NY. We’re bros. I need to meet Ken in Brooklyn. And Scott, Bryan, Roger, Andy, Instagator, Mark and so many others. And of course Irv in Vancouver. THIS CLUB IS AWESOME.

I’d love to meet Mike in Florida. But I’ll never go there. And he’ll never come to Cali. My Family dodged a huge bullet when my Dad quit a Job in ‘68 rather than move to the Cape (Cocoa Beach) when I was a kid.

We had a small US west (best) coast GTG last summer. Great people and a whole lot of fun. Meeting in person is special.

George and I are close enough that we’ve (and my wallet) met twice. He’s a great guy. His bass room is to die for!

I’ve met Kara once. It was great!! She sold me two TBirds! And we know how knowledgeable she is. We need to get her to the next GTG.

Bottom line. I’ve gotten so much from this club that there is no way I can pay it all back. But if anyone is headed to SoCal, let me know. We’ll leave the light on for you. You’re always welcome.
Big difference: I've been to CA: San Diego, San Bernardino, LA(X, anyway), Oakland, and SF. One(San Bernardino)by choice; all during Navy time.

It currently has unknown functionality, I've got to wire in a battery connector (and put a battery in) and then see what happens.

But, the main problem with your suggestion: there is no cover
(The only one I've found online that might work, they want like $100 + $10 shipping :eyebrow::meh::rollno::roflmao::roflmao: )
Well, there's always duct tape.

Of the fifty states, I have been to all except Alabama and Mississippi. If we let in Puerto Rico, then I'll have to get there eventually, too. I have been to DC, so there's that. My Thunderbirds aren't as well traveled, so far as I know, but they have been across the country a few times. The Flamingo at least twice - once when I got it, once when it was refinished. The '01 at least once when I bought it. The '15 same as the '01. Finding a local Thunderbird is pretty tough, so unless you are brave (crazy) enough to buy them sight-unseen, choices are pretty limited.

Well said Marshall. :thumbsup::)

Still not sure about the Glarry thing. I suppose if the neck is sound, you can level, crown and dress the fret ends and it would be playable. But then a pickup upgrade would still be needed. Just get an EPI bolt on and you’re way ahead of the game. And it would play and sound a lot better.
I sold all my non-Tbird basses and some sound equipment since I started attempting to play bass. I buy cheap, upgrade or clean it, and sell for a profit. That funded my current addiction.

as a side note, the Garry Burning Fire had a very nice neck (24 fret) and weighed less than 7#. The strings, pickups, and electronics were junk. Put on La Bella black tapes, CTS 250k pots, and SDQP pickups. Was kind of sad to see it go but made $100 profit sold a SWR combo, and some bass lessons on DVD for a $200 profit and that paid the $300 for my IV and Gator HC.

If you are ever coming to the Phoenix area the door is always open, or I would be happy to meet up wherever is convenient.

Any thrift store will probably have LPs for next to nothing cost-wise. You could grab a couple and experiment and probably only be out a few bucks tops.

I'm sure we have something in the collection you could have, although that would end up being pretty thick.

Raquel Welch died. RIP

I finally got a Pneck for my Eppi Goth, just have to get some Gotoh tuners, and about 10 days out for the luthier.

I won't have any use for the Eppi neck. However, I have no idea what it is worth. It does have a dent on the side of the board by the nut, and a fret that needs polishing which I'll have looked after, or I can sell as is. PM me with recommendations, or discuss here, I'm good either way,
photos attached.
