@MCF does your Silvertone bass have lines in the surface of the body? Originally, I thought it was just age craze, but all the photos I see of those types of basses seem to have lines indicating that the top veneer is not a single piece. I know it is a veneer over a plywood core from all the photos I can find online. Just curious.
I’ll check. Part of the charm. Aren’t you amazed at how light it is? Now that I’ve had mine out, I’m determined to get it playing again. I’ve struck out on the intonation screw, but a couple of the specialty fastener shops aren’t open on weekends. It apparently is a size 3 metric with a nonstandard thread pitch.

Is the head you plan to use an all tube? If so, what’s the power? I have a V4 head and V4 cab that I loaded with Eminence BP122’s and I do like it. Last time I played it live it sat good in the mix with my band that plays in Eb and D standard, with two guitars. If anything I could say maybe I’d like to get a little more low end, but that could have more to do with only having a 100w head. I really want to make it lighter, and also, I want it to be 4 ohms, so I could have the option of using my old SVT with it. I’d love to be able to get those BassLites in a 16 or 4 ohm version. Not that long ago, Eminence would do that for you, but I think that was another COVID casualty.

I’d love to hear what you think after your show!

So, report from the show, the cab is solid. Very powerful sound, real thump to it, can definitely start using it as my gigging cab. That said, definitely not the same top end I’m used to, even with the treble and presence dimed on the Hiwatt. Haven’t had the chance to use it with the 2000s yet. I’d also say not quite as loud or efficient as my JBL loaded cabs, I took the Hiwatt just to the starting point of overdrive, and I could have done with a little bit more volume coming out of it. Luckily the sound man filled me into my monitors so I could hear everything. Also partially just getting used to the speakers not being as up high and close to the ear, so I’m probably missing some as it blows past my ankles. But a really good and fairly light weight cab. If I see another pop up and can swing more Basslites, I’ll grab it, it’s a great choice. Honestly ampeg should make these as 4x12s for their line up.

Well, the National is a museum piece. It even has what appears to be the original foam on the bridge. Looks like it was never played and sat for 50+ years in a closet. The only unfortunate part is the closet wasn’t temperature controlled and the veneer cracked along the PG screws. Still, for $250 including a flawless original case, I can’t complain. Yes, 2 saddle bridge.

In a place we recently played.

There is a dive bar locally that had a bizarrely shaped men's room. It had the obligatory peeling shiny paint, bare concrete floor, and nasty graffiti. It also had a vending machine. One side sold condoms. The other side sold Tylenol. I wish there were pictures. It has been cleaned up, kinda.

I......may have sorta impulse bought something I really don't need, and probably don't have the room for......

....but it should be fun
Speaker casket!

Now that you have one of those. I can think of a head full of red glowing things that would work great with it. But is so heavy it will flatten tires on your Suburan.
