So, new axe. Photo right out of the box, an Yamaha BB300.
Maybe 1984 or 1994.
I already cleaned the fretboard, body; also did some paint polishing, trying to remove some scratches, and polishing the string retainer.

Thunderbird pickup drop right in and the pickup ring covers the hole. I have done this previously. Plus the asking price on the bass itself is a good bit below market price.

When I found my Ashdown--looking around I ran across this from the same GC marked "Great Condition." Mistake or just another example GC at it's best?

Isn't that a Modern Player Jazz Bass? A Jazz Bass Special was a Japan made P/J with a P-bass body, now reissued as a Duff McKagan model.
I also recall a Jazz Bass with two P-pickups (the neck pickup not in a P-bass sweetspot) but can't recall it's name).

Only by about six years. If you make it past 27, the next big death year is 44. Billie Holliday was 44, and now I don't remember who all else. She counts enough to make it a club.
It is a Modern Player Jazz. These pawn shop listings are often times wrong or incomplete. Sometimes it works to your advantage.

At least they could have added, "cosmetically challenged".
I've never liked that type of 'fuzzy' amp covering because that's what happens with hard use. Textured tolex is the most durable amp covering.
