Thunderbird Club

Haven't they made them before?
I used future tense because I wasn't sure when their design and manufacturing changes (if any) have taken place long enough to actually have those results in people's hands. I imagine there was a lot of pre-Yamaha Ampegs that needed to be sold, and who knows if they have changed anything yet. It would be interesting to know when Yamaha's fingerprint began to show up in Ampeg products.

At least they could have added, "cosmetically challenged". :blackeye: I've never liked that type of 'fuzzy' amp covering because that's what happens with hard use. Textured tolex is the most durable amp covering.
Yes, that rat hair only looks "good" (if one is so inclined), brand new. Starts looking nasty after that. Personally not a fan of that on anything. Likely doesn't even look good on rats.

Didn't we have a Thunderbird playing detective floating around this thread a few years ago? He was fictional, but Pam Springs could be either his client or his girlfriend.

Yes, there was a narrative covering that a while ago. Most likely over 1000 posts ago! :)

From Wikipedia - In 1989, the album United Kingdom by American Music Club was partially recorded at Hotel Utah, including the song "All the Lost Souls Welcome You to San Francisco".[21] In 2008, Black Francis recorded the album "Live at the Hotel Utah Saloon".

Hotel Utah celebrates its wild S.F. history – East Bay Times

"All The Lost Souls Welcome You To San Francisco" was not on "United Kingdom" but on "The Golden Age", the last AMC album from 2008.
There's also some bonus tracks recorded at Hotel Utah on their second album "Engine" cd reissue.

Saw the band at Tavastia, Helsinki in 2008. Wonderful gig.

I’ve always been kinda partial to rat fur on cabs. No more difficult than tolex (unless you have a cat) to keep fresh looking. Besides, the used ones are almost always cheaper than their tolex counter parts (probably because nobody likes the stuff). In the days of smoke filled bars they did get a bit odoriferous.

If I were making a cab I wouldn’t use tolex or rat fur, I’d consider using the truck bed liner stuff (Rhino liner?), it’s hard as nails. I used to have a Stingray SUB bass with a similar finish, it was indestructible.

Maybe you should correct the Wiki page - I think that's how it works.

Where was I... oh yeah.
I need help, can't quit laughing at this.

Buckets the drummer even has 'blooper' vids! My friends surf band "Surf Monster" who was 1st up at our show last night played a surf version of Paranoid and Alice Coopers '18'. Metal and Glam surf! :bassist:

You just have to periodically bring them to the dog groomer.

Yes, and I also didn't mean to correct you as you only quoted Wiki. Not that you took it that way but if you did, I apologize. The last sentence could be a Mark Eizel songtitle...

It's a great band that American Music Club but some of their songs are so heart wrenching that it's sometimes hard to listen to them if you are having any issues in that department.

Custom order. Maybe they thought I could pass it off as a Mod Shop after installation.
I can just hear the conversation in the Hipshot order fulfillment room…

Costello: Hey Abbot, why are we filling this order for a replacement tuner? What type should we give him?
Abbot: He didn’t like the original. Why? I don’t know.
Costello: OK, I’ll give him a new tuner. What type?
Abbot: I don’t know.
Costello: Why? Are you missing the return order?
Abbot: Exactly
Costello: So I should give him a replacement anyway, why?
Abbot: Exactly
Costello: OK, one “Y” tuner replacement coming up.

To their credit they sent four incorrect "Y" tuners. :)

No worries mate - I totally understood you were quoting Wiki. From what I understand, Wiki pages get continually updated by people who spot mis-information. I've never done it so I don't know how it's done - but it might be worth trying. :)

I'll check out their music, especially the LP with some live Hotel Utah material. :bassist:
