Wait... I just re-read the original post - Yamaha is making Ampegs since 2018??? (I mis-read it as "amps")

According to the "history" page on Ampeg's website:

"In 2018, Yamaha Guitar Group, Inc (YGG) announced the acquisition of the Ampeg brand from LOUD Audio, LLC."

:)

.........

If I were making a cab I wouldn’t use tolex or rat fur, I’d consider using the truck bed liner stuff (Rhino liner?), it’s hard as nails. I used to have a Stingray SUB bass with a similar finish, it was indestructible.

Like this stuff?

DuraTex Speaker Cabinet Texture Coating 1 Quart Roller Grade Black Kit

(I'm thinking it's what I'll use on my "cosmetically challenged" 810e)

I’m still a big fan.
I have an extender on everyone of my “playing out” Basses. That includes all of the thunderbirds with the exception of the 76 RI.
Thanks for the link.

I've just switched to D standard tuning. Now and then I dream of C...

That's so great!

But also great is what YT followed it with for me- the Dick Cavett show that aired the day after Woodstock, with Jefferson Airplane, Joni Mitchell, and Crosby&Stills. I found it interesting that JA played it straight even though the guitars clearly were not plugged in. So often they mocked the faux live performance by doing things that would clearly screw up the guitar playability (a rubber octopus through the strings, etc.) It could have been because they were exhausted and fried, having just come from Woodstock, but I like to think they respected Dick for the stage he gave rock musicians in a time so many looked down on them. This appears to be a recording from a TV, which begs the question of how the "We Can be Together" lyrics got past the censors. JA had a contract that let them do whatever they wanted lyrically and musically from RCA's standpoint (or so I have read), but network censors wouldn't care. Anyway, this is a great show.

If I could go back and see any one concert I missed, it would be Woodstock. Mud, rain, roaches and all. 8^)

The rap session near the end is pretty cool, too. Funny how spot on the response to "Anything you ever wanted to say on TV but never got the chance?" was, and mostly is.

I used a lot of DuraTex on the basement ceiling (plywood) and other parts of the basement walls that were plywood. I used the white version, not the black version. I'm not that much of a cave dweller. That stuff is not cheap, but it's not really more expensive than decent paint these days. It's also tough as nails. I put the black version on a rolling PA cabinet that I built, and it has stood up to a whole lot of abuse. The power amps, power supply, and mixer for the scrounged PA From Hell live in that cabinet. You can break the plywood before that stuff gives up. I like it so much that I'll be using the anti-slip floor coating from the same company to paint the basement steps. Every other step at a time. There's only one set of stairs to the basement. Being stuck down there in the music room and shop would be great. For a while. Thing is that DuraTex also cures pretty fast, but not immediately. It smells a little weird, so there's that. Once it cures, the smell goes away.

Nice

From everything I could research about the BB300 model, I know that they were available in black, white and red.
I wish I could have found a white one, but this one was a little bargain, I couldn't pass it up.
They’re nice basses. I’d recommend a used one to someone just starting to play over a Squier any day.

I’m amazed and shocked. I ordered these for the BaCH (I’m still astonished at how great the neck is) Saturday morning at about 6:00 AM from Philadelphia Luthier. They arrived today. First Class USPS. To California. It appears the USPS is getting its act back together. Unless Philadelphia Luthier has a drop shipper in L.A. or Vegas…Anyway, I’m pleased with the service.

I think it’ll work with careful placement. It lines up better than the photo shows.

Thanks for this Will. The main area of the basement in the mountain place will finally be repaired (there was a water leak from before we bought the place) and with new carpet within the next two or three months, weather permitting (It’s snowing up there today and the power went out. Again.). This will be the basement where great things will happen.

There is a separate area with a raised plywood floor that’ll be a little guitar and whatnot repair shop where Duratex sounds like the perfect solution for the floor. When the time comes, I’ll be asking for application advice.

I'm a big fan of Hipshot products and have used their bridges and tuners on my custom builds. I think I mentioned this here but unfortunately they no longer custom adapt an E tuner sent to them with their drop-D mechanism. They did a few for me on tuners I sent to them that they don't offer as a drop-D unit. They are down to offering 10 different-style tuners, with 5 discontinued, two of which I would have bought if still available. Bass Xtenders

I’m still a big fan.

Big Hipshot fan as well. I usually equip all my basses with an xtender, with some of them getting bridges as well, either the KickAss or the SuperTone. I've yet to used their other tuners though.

I’ve always been kinda partial to rat fur on cabs. No more difficult than tolex (unless you have a cat) to keep fresh looking. Besides, the used ones are almost always cheaper than their tolex counter parts (probably because nobody likes the stuff). In the days of smoke filled bars they did get a bit odoriferous.

If I were making a cab I wouldn’t use tolex or rat fur, I’d consider using the truck bed liner stuff (Rhino liner?), it’s hard as nails. I used to have a Stingray SUB bass with a similar finish, it was indestructible.
I've had two cabs with it. A Harke and an EBS 212. Both looked new and not bad. The old Ashdown Mag 300 I took in and later sold had it. He must have had cat, dogs and some creatures that are only seen on the Discovery Channel! I never was able to get it nice looking.

Grooming an amp cab is a deal-breaker for me. :D
