Thunderbird Club

For those of you that know of such things.....

These are installed backwards/wrongly?
Or are incorrect parts?
It will maybe cause problems?

Or is the poor fitment because they're aftermarket replacements?

....the others appear to have been installed correctly?

nope…. love T0-3 cans….
PNP NPN complements in a quasi complementary bipolar topology…..my fave for bass amplification……:hyper::thumbsup:

you’re good to go!…

Way better - the pg route for the pu isn't conforming to the corners and is now hidden. I would have done the same.
Thanks Geo. I was a bit nervous about the screws. I considered the faux screw heads and double sided tape option but decided to just install it. I drilled very shallow pilot holes for the screws. I was pretty nervous doing that. Worked like a charm. I don’t know what it looks like under the pickguard. And I don’t care. I'm 65. This Thunderbird isn’t going anywhere while I’m alive and able to play.

Been there, done that. Along with scorpion, duck embryos, duck tongue, duck feet (and every other part of a duck), squirrel brain, Rocky Mountain oysters, catfish cheeks, horse, roasted eel… the list goes on and on. I did a ton of international travel my last 15 years of work, and you pretty much just ate what everybody else was eating. I’m sure there was also a degree of “Let’s see if the American guy will eat this” going on.
Yep. Used to travel to Japan frequently and was invited to dinner by the President of Toshiba Semiconductor. He asked me if there was anything I didn’t like. I told him uni. You can guess what he ordered for the appetizer.

They're directional, though? Have to be connected a certain way?
Seems like they should be installed in the direction that allows the casing holes to line up with those on the bracket, so the retaining/grounding bolts can be installed?

That really is a sweet looking jazz, love the satin black finish also!
No tort, dual humbuckers, 12” radius neck - it’s sounding more Gibson by the minute.
I just might put out for the shoreline Gold active jazz, I have an assortment of spare preamps that might go well in it (East, Audere, Aguilar, Spector, Demeter, Bartolini… and maybe a couple of others.

black satin/matte is cool -

I suspect any they had would have been in Orlando. When they initially expanded east, they were only in a few cities. They were not successful. So they withdrew back to being regional.

In your day, there were a couple at the beaches, one in Hillcrest, a couple on El Cajon Boulevard, and a few others scattered about the suburbs.

Looks like there are 18 in the metro Austin area. We haven’t eaten in one for years after a bad experience at one.

Pretty much my experience with on board switching as well. Basses I have that have series/parallel switching stay in series mode 90% of the time. Likewise, Basses I have that have humbucker/single coil switching stay in humbucker mode 90% of the time. I’m not a big pedal user, but I’ve noticed some pedals play better with single coil vs humbucker feeds, so that could be a plus for some people.
After trying numerous wiring mods, I landed on series/parallel and phase switches for my Hagström guitar. 90% of the time it stayed in parallel, and 97% of the time the pickups were in phase. But there were times series and/or out of phase was the perfect configuration.

Market research. Would you buy a breakfast pita? Egg, potato, and onion. Cheese is an extra.

Heck yeah!

When I was growing up, mom used to scramble up some eggs, potatoes, ground lamb and onion and stuff it in a fresh baked pita along with goat cheese crumbles. We called it a Syrian scramble.

I can also remember being the only kid in grade school (Boulder Colorado Rockies area in the late 1960’s) that would routinely have PB&J in a pita or tuna fish in a pita for lunch. Mom used to make pita bread from scratch a couple times a week. She called it Syrian bread or pocket bread and I never saw anything like it in the store until about 40 years ago when Pita bread started becoming better known.

Problem in India is all the meat is :poop:. So, better to stick with veg meals. That eliminates expanding the menu to shwarma, mansef, and other Levantine delicacies .

I'm not a lead guitarist or guitarist even, I just use it as a tool and probably play it like a bass player. Still, a burning ambition was to play a solo to a new track I'm working on so I didn't have to explain to anyone what I want in spite of them playing great solos. With some double tracking I came up with this. Not perfect but at least to me it has some of that Max Webster vibe I was after. Sorry Kim Mitchell.:D

Brilliant!

Hey gang.
Just some observations while my tuner issues on the NR remain unresolved.
After research it appears that the NR comes with a “licensed” hipshot tuner. Not the USA model.

The design of the off shore model is different. The threads on the USA branded unit are noticeably stronger.
If you look closely at the locking nut on the left( offshore) you can see the tool damage. That wasn't me.
Locking nut on the licensed tuner is 15mm while the USA is 9/16

In the first picture the one on the left is the off shore model.

Nothing to be sorry for. Sounds great.

My friend sent me a surplus Will Power he had and I just dropped it in. The bass originally jad an Artec that was hopelessly too narrow, then a custom made P-90 style pickup underneath the EB metal cover (worked well, sounded more like a Ric neck pickup) and then a Dimarzio Model One. It was alright but the E-string was always a bit of a compromise. Not anymore. There's not a huge difference in spacing but the Will Power works perfectly.

A customary sample with both J's first, then WP added and then WP alone. An added bonus of WP with some Smashbox madness.

I like the WP by itself-for the kind of [stuff] we do.
