Thunderbird Club

Finally, a decent pic even though I used my HTC One instead of my Nikon.
By the way, since it's no longer a Goth Thunderbird I'm calling it Thunderbird Jet.

I did my first gig with the Epi T-bird Pro Saturday , first gig with any kind of bird for that matter. I must admit I was very skeptical when I first got it ,but I am happy to say I am now a fan of this bird . My son made the comment " cant believe you have all these nice basses and your gonna play an epi" . Everything on the bass was set on the detent ,flat , pickups set center also , dime the volume . My rig is two BRX10.2 cabs and a Genz gbe 750 ,also everything at 12.00 except the gain and master . Great tone for classic rock, if I needed lows and punch I played over the neck pup, if I need more articulation I played over the bridge pup. The best move was trashing the Hartke strings and putting on a set of D'addario XL's . Big improvement in sound and playability. Well there it is from a first time T-Birder. I like it !! These things are long tho , I think I hit everything on stage with it , both ends.
D'Addarios on my Epi Pro IV also. Onboard EQ set flat also. Sounds great, doesn't it? :)

Yep, it's what makes a humbucker buck the hum.

It's positioned pretty close to the bridge, so it has lots of treble content, but the series winding adds both output volume and low mids. Really, it was just a cheap way for me to improve the tone... ;)

Ahh... Thanks!

I do know how a humbucker works, but didn't know the pickups on a Jazz was wound reversed to each other... That's pretty smart actually, to join them together like that - Just like on the Fender Blacktop P (sans the chrome cover)... :)

I dig the black/red colour scheme... I saw on another website the other day, you could get bloodspatter decals and fretmarkers that would fit the scheme... :)

What kind of knobs did you use?

The thunderbird classic pro has more of a cut by the neck. This is for better access to higher frets. That's about the only difference that I've noticed thus far. I just bought my classic pro yesterday. I'm so in love with it, I nearly drilled a wider "input jack" on her rear if you catch my drift. I don't think you'll find anyone complaining about the T-bird classic pro or the pro iv. I really wanted to try the pro iv but they only had the classic, which is the one I wanted anyway. The pro iv has active epiphone U.S.A pickups and 4 tone knobs 7 ply neck. I bet you can really get more tones out of her than the Gibson or classic but the classic is the closest thing to the Gibson in every way. Gibson U.S.A pickups 9 ply neck ect...

Diggin' the Stream in your avatar, Jay. Is that one yours? I WILL have one at some point. I messed around a little with the import version at Summer NAMM and really liked it.

I think I give credit for my new gig to TBurt. It was that thunder that it does so well that the rest of the band likes, and they agree that it helps with the type of music we're doing (hard rock a la Stone Sour and Alter Bridge type stuff). Another key: push enough air. Couple other guys they auditioned didn't have enough amp to keep up with a 100 watt half stack. :bassist:

Here are the gig pics as promised , nothing exciting but here they are , N.E. Georgia outdoor gig in August , can you say 96 degrees and humidity to match. BTW im the guy with the 2 chins.

Awesome!!!

You've got two cars on stage and Kid Rock on vocals - what could possibly go wrong! :)
