Thunderbird Club

ever notice people (other muzos) seem ok with a guitarist who plays bass but not the other way around?…..or is it me?…
myself, a bass player and only that from day one…

Me too - at one point I bought a cheap DeArmond/Guild JetStar 6-string guitar thinking I'd learn how to play it... but ended up making a bass out of it! :D

I think your observation is correct.

I think bass players are more satisfied and fulfilled and don't seem to have some kind of P envy thing (Freud), to make up for, and thus don't need to play guitar.
I definitely don't have P envy. I play a THUNDERBIRD.:smug:
Or an Embassy. I don't recall ever even holding a P(bass).

Well..., I have 4 7ender combos and the Ka$ino(also technically a combo, just a heavy one)and 5 basses: 2 Gibson's, 2 Epi's, and 1 Ibanez.
Oh, wait. I also have my emergency backup P___MAX110 amp. Guess I gots to buy another bass.
I am short on bass amps. The little Carvin combo and extention, the original 1968 360 stack and the Grexa reissue 360 stack. I have never run both powered cabinets with one preamp head. It is designed to do that. It would be vast overkill since one cabinet is already plenty.

Ha!!!, i'm good in the amp department.
I usually replace, not add.
After saying I’m good in the amp department, I have to revise that. If you decide to replace the Carbine, please think of me first. I’ve dropped more than enough hints to Andy that he should make a Subway with a Carbine channel. I’m not holding out a lot of hope.

Chucky, Rugby Union is a distant 3rd - maybe lower than that.

AFL & NRL are streets ahead. Soccer had to change to a summer comp to get out of their shadow, and may have overtaken Union now.
wow thx, so is there a Six Nations type tournament for League?
is Aussie rules bigger than Union as well?..

You are now number one on the list Marshall. :)
As a matter of fact, a pm might come your way in a few days regarding that.

Same. I have my little GK MB150/112 combo that I use at home, and sometimes gigs. I have a GK L800 head and SWR 410 cab, but they're sitting in my friend's basement since I have no room in my apartment and even the MB150 is way more power than I need at home.

Aussie Rules (AFL) is huge, has a 18 team comp plus finals series. Pro teams in 5 states.

Rugby League (NRL) is huge, has a 17 team comp plus final series, plus 3 match State of Origin series (NSW vs Qld) annually which dominates TV ratings. Pro teams in 3 states plus 1 in the ACT and 1 in Auckland NZ.

March to October is dominated by those two sports. RL also has some International matches after the domestic series has finished. The RL World Cup has over the last off season. Samoa runners up to Australia due to there being many many players of Pacific Islander descent in the NRL these days, nearly 50% of the player pool.
Where Union dominates is that it is much bigger Internationally.

I started on an acoustic guitar but somehow knew I always wanted to play bass and been doing that since I was thirteen. I've always played some guitar but it's been more like dabbling as my keyboard playing has been too. Until 2020 when I bought the old Ibanez Blazer electric and my guitar playing has improved a lot I think. I use it only as a tool for writing and recording and having a "unisex" pedalboard helps too.
I play a lot of drums too and handle them quite well but I don't consider myself as a drummer. If my ego takes over I just record myself playing drums and I'm back on earth. Same thing with the singing.
