remnants of a bygone era…..old steam infrastructure…..wonder if they used American or European gauge/equipment….tracks seem long gone…

Looks like it - the neck-through is the give away,

Also, TB+ pickups & no output jack on the front.

What's up with those tuners? Chrome knobs & washers on black tuners? o_O

Is that an aluminum (aluminium  ) string-nut?
Somebody modified it a bit. Maybe Hipshot tuners? That would be a plus. Dunno about the nut.

you’re a good dad….is he on Rymadil?..
Thanks. We try to do our best for him. Even to the point of getting him some pulled pork and chicken to add something to his dog food that will make him want to eat. Both Labs we've har were very picky eaters. When young it wasn't much of a problem, but now he has to eat to get his meds.

No he's not. Nothing for pain or inflammation. He doesn't seem to hurt as far as we or the vet can tell. But Labs tend to lose muscle in the hind legs as they age (as well as a few other things). In some causes they rear end just can't go any more and the rest of the dog is working fine. That's a tough one when that happens. He's just on heart med, a diuretic, spironolactone (also helps with fluid), and something to help with kidneys. We tried a med (an SSRI), that might help with cognitive decline but it didn't seem to do anything.

My first thought was, that it was for the same reason NASCAR-types drive mostly-left in mostly-circles - because that's the way horse races are done (in the US.....), and horse tracks were what was used early on before dedicated tracks were built for many racing sports, and they just kept things that way with the new tracks....... :bookworm:

Then it's possible it's just tradition began with horses for whatever reason. Are dog races also counter-clockwise?

Well I’m no help on this one. NSW horse races run clockwise, Victoria horse races run anti clockwise. It is a factor considered when horses make their initial forays into the other State. Evidently some horses struggle with the other way.

And here's an exception. Do they ever rationalize why they do both? Is it to spread-out disciplines for horses/riders? I wonder if animals can be ambidextrous. My little Mona is left-pawed. She lifts her left leg to pee and if she offers a front paw, it's always her left paw. She moves pretty quick when she wants to, but she doesn't race. :)

Mona rocks….such a friendly little girl…

Only time she gets aggressive (barking) is to 'protect' our home against 'intruders'. It's a trait of the breed. Once friends are inside and she sees/senses they are ok - barking stops and hand licking follows. :)

There's a a fair amount of meter gauge in South America a lot of it uses some rather bizarre rebuilt US locomotives ( and some purpose built ones as well. As an aside factoid almost all US and a good deal of Europe's gauge is 4' 8 1/2", the same as a Roman chariot.
