Thunderbird Club

oh my, what do we have here……paid 50 bucks…..NOS tubes alone are worth at least five times that….to think all you needed was the RCA manual and a supply of tubes to build a couple of hundred of these a month and make a decent living…..”Industria Argentina”….long gone days….. these sound exceptionally good (well)…..

You score the coolest stuff Chuck.

Want more!!!:woot::woot::woot::woot::woot:

IF, that were ever to come on the market.
I bet it would be an extremely limited run.
And way out of my dollar reach.

It's why you have two kidneys, Jeff - Sell one!

thank you my Brother……one of the reasons I like to come here is, they haven’t been bit by the “American Pickers” type mania of gathering cool old stuff so antique shops are ripe with goodies…..
that old Norton again, schmoe literally uses it as his daily….

That recent/newer Citroen is visually similar to the old Deux Chevaux - I knew a guy who had one exactly like this one, same colour and everything.

David Kiswiney shared these pics with me.
Gibson's master builder Jim De Cola built this beautiful Thunderbird II for him.

The neck is not a nine ply laminate. But three piece mahogany.
The machine heads are Hipshot Ultra-lites.
It also has the Rex Brown Active boost via a push/pull switch on the tone control.
At the request of David the lower strap button was placed off-center, for better balance

Gibson should be taking these into production! They'd have a real winner in their hands.

 You can still make a living off those if you can tap into the audiophile market.

That was DeCola's reissue of the historic 60's T-Bird Pickup. He made the bridge a little hotter than the neck pickup so they would balance better. David Kiswiney's bass has the hotter bridge position pickup.
Is that the same pickup the new Gibson NR has? Or did they just use the Epiphone VP/Embassy bass pickup in the new Gibson NR?

Even for a IV person like myself, that looks great and would be a good seller. Which almost certainly means Gibson won't do it.
I don't know... Gibson did an awful lot right with the NR Thunderbird and those sold so well, they did several runs of them (probably many more than expected). It is almost like they are learning (slowly).
