A bit of a Gibson family Saturday. A little corner of heaven.

Oh my god. That is incredible. I’ve heard it before, but somehow today it blew me away. You are so fortunate to have her. She obviously has a world class voice. Instead she chose family and friends over trying to “make it.” I’m sure she is content with that decision. But wow. Absolutely incredible.

Wait till you hear the new recordings - yes, I feel supremely fortunate, and yes - she is very happy being a mom. She has 7 siblings and was the oldest child.

I really 'heard' her full potential when we did our first recordings 4 years ago. Her singing on this song absolutely blew me away (still does) - I picked it specifically for her shortly after she joined our band.

Stop. I want a Carbine. Pretty much for ten or so years. That’ll be my next amp. But……

I wanted a Bass 400+ and came very close to buying one... but I realized I just don't need it considering what I have.

This is another amp I wanted - I still might pop for one someday...

I wanted a 400+ too. The TT 800 Boogie Channel is based on it and it’s Fender tone stack. If I could only have one amp (god forbid) the Mesa TT 800 would be it.

I assembled myself the ultimate strat.

And here she is.

The neck is from a 1982 Squier JV series. I always said that those eighties Made in Japan Fenders had the best playing necks EVER, this one is no exception. The Body is from a 1988 Strat Plus in Surf green, which darkened considerably. I got the pickguard and pickups from another guitar of mine, and they sound really good.

I wanted a 400+ too. The TT 800 Boogie Channel is based on it and it’s Fender tone stack. If I could only have one amp (god forbid) the Mesa TT 800 would be it.

I have to say - I'm well happy with what I have. I took my TC Electronics BG250 112 combo to our Friday night jam session (been going on for 13+ yrs) last night (w/the '68 Coral Deluxe Bass) and it sounded sooo good! And that's just one of my amps! We use it for Kirstin's keys live.

Doesn't look like much... but it is a workhorse!

damn, that’s like 775 US…totally worth it….Dave paid about a hundred buck for his 65, the original NOS Sylvania 6CA7 matched set is probably worth over three hundred bucks alone ….

Dave got a steal and then some!
I paid about $200 for mine back around 2010ish. I’ve probably put hundreds of hours of use on it since then (no telling how much use it got before I got it) and still no known issues, appears to be working fine. However, it’s over 40 years old, so I should probably have it checked out. No idea what a cap lifespan is, but I’m probably close to it.
Here she is, in all her vintage glory on top of one of the best cabs ever made…

I’ve seen her once. Right before the pandemic. She is an American treasure. The show was awesome.

Love that song.

Kirstin first laughed how "90s" it sounded, but it's an easy song to play and the lyrics fits her well these days considering her soon to arrive second daughter in May. "I'm a child, I'm a mother..." (but not a child mother...) It's similar to Leslie Gore's "You Don't Own Me" as a strong female affirmation/anthem of individuality/self identity.

Though he didn't have a great last couple of days, Grady felt like a short walk on the greens this evening.

Just can't get him to poop in the little built in dog toilets. Even have them marked with flags, but he's too interested in other things.


(I would not actually let him go on the course.)

I think of pop as crossing genres - it’s music that’s made to appeal to the masses. Country has pop just as rock, metal, and punk do. Maybe opera, too. Have to ask my opera singer friend…

I get the whole pop "popular" appeal to the masses aspect, but history has proven that certain pop songs have become 'classics' - or as I like to say, "classical pop".., music that might have been born as simple "pop" but has touched a nerve to a broader form of music. Like all genre's of music, there's a generic/throw-away version, and a 'high-art' (dare I say) version. I will defend pop when it's good - the same as any other form of good/well crafted music.

As much as I'd like one - I can't imagine it sounding better than my 30w B15N Porta-Flex head. I'm trying to cut down on redundancy.

Well said. I dare anyone to tell me the Carpenters’ Close to You isn’t a classic.
